Most enjoyable England tournament match for ages that. Defence needs sorting out but we looked excellent going forward and a far cry from the usual turgid, uninspiring shit we're used to.

Thought we were brilliant and miles more entertaining than the Slothgate football. We might not get as far but I’ll take actually having a go instead.

Unsure what the thinking is with Konsa over Guehi? Possibly a bit more athleticism and height?

Nit picking though. The second half was what English teams should be all about. Using power and athleticism (combined with quality) to overpower teams that have a superior possession game.

Whether we can do that to the elite, we’ll see, but anything is better than trying to match the way they play and failing miserably.

It’s ok to play like that in relatively low temperatures in an air-conditioned stadium. Winning the group and staying there for as long as possible will help. Still think we might come unstuck if we have to play Mexico in Mexico.

You probably can’t play like that for 90 mins, granted. And when we’re as dominant as we were for that first part of the second half, we need to be putting games to bed, so it doesn’t end up being nervy, like it was beginning to get until Rashford scored.

Unsure on Mexico tbh. Looked OK in the first game without being anything more, but it was against very limited opposition.

Think the game against Korea tonight should be quite interesting. Shame it’s in the graveyard slot.
