Would make more sense to be trying Rooney in a more withdrawn role in a friendly surely, isnt the point to prepare for how we'll play in the tournament.

So if Sturridge doesn't make it, who would people take in his place?

Suppose the options are Rashford and Carroll, but maybe Hodgson will just consider Rooney able to play there and take another midfielder instead.

This IMO.

That's why Rooney must go.

Doesn't normally do it in finals though.

He's in fine form at the moment, he has a real spring in his step.

Rooney looks good here, still the goal is clean through from a Sterling run. Cant see that v the top sides. Vardys pace would be more of an asset in an advanced role for us imo. Rooney more withdrawn, use his passing & vision for Kane & Vardy. Can switch it up when needed.

Ofcourse he'll just play upfront, wouldn't be suprised if he got in ahead of Kane as lead striker for some games actually.

Wonder if we should just put Kane on the bench if everyone is so set on starting Rooney. Could even play 4-3-3 with Rashford and Vardy. Experimental I know.

Be quiet, man.

Just brainstorming Ronaldo mate, I know any kind of unconventional thinking is alien to you.
