Guest reefatoon
No pressure when taking a penalty? What absolute drivel Whilst it should be extremely easy, for a pro to score from there. There are a multitiude of factors to consider and if anything, are far more pressured than a quick snapshot or a one on one, where you just instinctively hit it. It's probably more pressure as the game stops, and you have to try and keep your cool. Much easier to instinctively hit it.

triggs
For me though, it's where do you draw the line. Mitrovic's header against Norwich took a massive deflection. He scored against Spurs, when he was basically just stood on the line from a corner and bundled it in. A lot of goals are about luck, or just a lucky break of the ball. So why are they fine by you, but a penalty makes no odds? I've always found the 'penalties aren't real goals' argument, a bit of a strange one. Because they are actually in play, of course you're going to get lucky goals but even in those situations you've usually done at least something good in an actual game play situation that made sure you were in the right place to get lucky. A penalty isn't replicated at any other time in a real game situation

Rompe
Mitrovic has 8 PL goals this season, the almighty Ameobi managed to better that a whopping one (1) time in his whole career here. One would think it'd be time to log off when you start romanticizing peak Ameobi.

Kanj
Shola was shit in a better team; this team we currently have is just as bad if not worse than the prior relegated team.

I'm comparing two average-to-shit strikers. Shola was here forever and loathed by many; it doesn't mean to say he and Mitrovic aren't compareble just cos the latter is still fairly new to us. I have said more than once in this debate that Shola was largely shite. Of course he was.
TRon
I like Mitrovic for his effort but I'm still to be convinced he'll score goals regularly. For him to be effective for us we'll need others to contribute more goals.
Mattoon
We can only hope that 3 goals in 2 game has sparked a bit of confidence in the lad, we've seen him with his tail up and on his day he can be a handful. I just hope it's not too late for him to be taking his chances now.
NG32
Id say its hard to judge him in such a poor team with no spirit whatsoever, the lad is 21 and in a new league. He's been put under a lot of pressure to score the goals needed to keep NUFC in the league, I think that's way to much of a burden for a young player. Him and Perez have suffered badly. Shola had Shearer up front with him, that support is immense. WHo has Mitro had?
AyeDubbleYoo
I'm surprised he's even being considered in the same bracket as people like Shola. For me he's a striker with a lot of heart and potential who's been parachuted into an absolute disaster zone. He's missed a few chances, but not a lot. Although I like Shola, he was a player who robbed a living in the Premier League about two divisions above his actual level.

I'm comparing two average-to-s*** strikers. Shola was here forever and loathed by many; it doesn't mean to say he and Mitrovic aren't compareble just cos the latter is still fairly new to us. I have said more than once in this debate that Shola was largely s****. Of course he was. You said Ameobi was unplayable on his day, and a much more accomplished finisher than Mitrovic. Bit weird that Ameobi didn't score more goals than he did if that's correct.

sugoinufc
Mitrovic is a limited player in many ways...but some of his abilities are (can become) worldclass. I like the kid coz he cares!
Figures 1-0 Football
I personally think he would stay, he's settled with his little one in Newcastle - there are no upcoming International tournaments that he desperately needs to play in. He's guaranteed a comfortable wage and is one of a few players who the fans actually like.

Waste of time, anyway. Shit player. Thank fuck he's in the lower leagues where he belongs.
