Twinport53
FWIW I think these games are a joke as well, no idea why we aren't playing better teams. Because then we wouldn't be winning
AyeDubbleYoo
Can only assume our pre-McClaren setup was so amateur they thought it was OK just to go on a tour without considering the actually opposition. Like a light ladz holiday before the season.
Dokko
Our pre-seasons are the same every year, most of the games seem to be a run out for squad players whilst those who will actually be required in the Premier League are barely seen for one reason or another. By far and away Obertan's favourite time of year. Aye. The home game which comes a week before the season starts usually has 80-90% of the starting team on the field, and everyone always wonders why it looks disjointed and rusty as fuck. Mainly because said players haven't kicked a ball between themselves for more than twenty minutes previously. Every fucking year man
STM
I'd much prefer it if they made a short hop to Europe and played on some normal pitches. What happened to the Ireland trips man, Hughton knew the craic.
Yorkie
We go to America for commercial/marketing purposes, surely?

ilikenewcastle
We go to America for commercial/marketing purposes, surely? In that case, it would be good if we played some semi-reputable teams in a 'better' city.

In that case, it would be good if we played some semi-reputable teams in a 'better' city. We shouldn't be coming to the USA when there is an international champions cup tourney going on with higher profile teams in bigger venues. If we're going to play MLS teams, we need to pay the 1st MLS team and play East Coast teams to cut down on travel time.

Why shouldn't we take on NYCFC, Seattle, Orlando or Galaxy? It'd increase our reputation in the US a lot and we'd benefit from it on a marketing level as well. Instead we play the fucking ressies of Portland Timbers. It's an abomination.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Should've gone to South America if we were insistent on going that far, tbf. Potential to build a link with another club or two and some of our players might have actually learnt something.
