Ronaldo is obviously a born winner but for people to think that he had that much influence on Portugal winning it...

He had a lot of influence on acting the way he needed to so that the headlines would be written about him.  In particular the stretcher that wasn't needed and the touchline antics in the second half.  Oh brave Ronaldo being stretchered off the pitch, only to spend the rest of the game bouncing around the touchline...

Google the injury man. His knee was twisted inside out. It's probably a cruciate.

Running around, then jumping about on the side line, after doing his ACL

EDIT: partially torn.  Not a complete rupture.  Surprised they were happy for him to be going so nuts on the sidelines, if it is his ACL that has a tear.

That's it, theatrics man. I can't believe people still fall for this s***. Passionate Ronaldo "guiding" his team to victory from the sidelines. f*** off.

he gave a team talk during the ET break huddle. THE THEATRICS!!!

Telling the other player to get on the pitch - THEATRICS!!!

The main BBC commentator was saying Ronaldo was being theatrical when the challenge came in. Danny Murphy (of all people) had to tell him that he looked genuinely injured.

He's clearly a passionate fella. Hence the crying 3 times in 2 hours - at the age of 31. Happy and sad tears.

Aye, it was a proper boy who cried wolf situation when Ronaldo got injured.  He's rolled around screaming in agony that many times when fuck all was up that it was wise to assume nothing was up on first viewing.

Never thought Portugal would win a trophy. They have a solid team, but nothing spectacular.

Happy for them, though. Ronaldo, too. Whether he played the entire final or not, his legacy is so much more greater now. You could argue that his career was Portugal's window to win something and they actually did. Incredible really.

People have underestimated Portugal for a while,  in the last 16 years have been going far in more than half of the major tournaments.

Euro 2000 - Semi-finals loss to France (winners)

WC 2002 - Knocked-out in group stage.

Euro 2004 - 2nd. Lost in finals.

WC 2006 - Finished 4th.

Euro 2008 - Lost in quarter-finals to Germany.

WC 2010 - Lost to winners in round of 16.

Euro 2012 - semi-finals loss to winners.

WC 2014 - Knocked-out in group stages.

Euro 2016 - Champions.

I mean that is a very good record for a team that has for most parts never been considered a favorite to win anything. Quite impressive record in international tournaments.

W.Carvalho's tash is horrendous.

Looks like he can play the fuck out of a clarinet.

He looks so retro. I kinda like it.

I feel like they were punching above their weight even then.  What do you think?
