Depends on a couple of more additions, but who would win between those teams?

Everyone fit and in form ? The second team walks it. It's not as easy as that though is it.

It's a lot of transactions, got to hand it to Rafa, just look at the names of those going out, so many of them are players really that should have been moved on years ago or players that didn't have the desire to be here or heart to play for the club. The job of clearing out the dead wood was made that much easier by the relegation of course.

On the  incomming side, obviously if we were in the PL still there would be a lot of questions on the quality, but there's some gems in there too and all seem to offer a passion and desire to want to play for the club that was lacking in those that left.

I think the squad is more than strong enough to achieve promotion and that's the main aim, we've also got a huge chunk of change sitting in the bank to add to the squad to make sure in January. Very pleased with the summer work in the end, I was nervous at first got to say but we got there eventually.

I think Ritchie/Diame as RW & AM really aren't much worse than Townsend/Sissoko. Ritchie just put in a more consistent Premier League season than Townsend ever has & Diame looks like he could be more equipped to play as a 10 than Moussa, IMO. Wijnaldum wasn't even a winger and he was flanked by Paul Dummett to give us offensive width  I'd take Gayle any day over 15/16 Cisse. I feel as though we've upgraded the full back positions and Hayden is an improvement on both Tiote & Colback as a box-to-box centre mid. It's close but, crucially, we now have more balance. Current best XI would win.

The squad is no contest, though. We're more equipped to deal with a PL campaign now than we were last season.

A huge amount of activity by anyone’s standards, which you have to say is incredibly impressive.  Without Rafa this would never have been the case – many of the players who left would have either stayed or left for a lot less money and a lot of dead wood would still be here as our last three muppets in charge “rated” most of them….

How he has cleared the desks is unbelievable – he could clearly see what so many of us have been saying for years, too many players who were either not good enough or simply had to move on.  He has done that.  The team/squad of last season was clearly not good enough and they have pretty much all gone now.

Clearly, there are question marks around a number of the players who have come in being able to make the move up, assuming we go straight back up.  That said, we paid low fees for most of them and a year under Rafa you would assume we would get most if not more than that back as they should improve and we shift them on.  The squad is actually smaller now that it was so I just hope we have enough to cover injuries etc – it seems on paper we do.  Hopefully under a more competent manager and support staff, coupled with his rotation philosophy policy, injuries will be less frequent now anyway.

We clearly have surplus money now and a lower wage bill hence we will be a lot leaner when we go back up which should give us room to bring in quality.

Overall, very impressed with this summer.  Just got to get behind the new team now and ensure they gel as quickly as possible and we go straight back up.

Job well and truly done this summer, imo.

If you're gonna look at things from an FM-stats point of view, it was always likely that we'd be worse off. However, what we've lost in alleged attributes we've gained in determination and desire. There's still plenty of quality, too, from what I've seen so far. Hopefully enough to see us promoted.

The toxicity of the dressing room has gone and we are in a position to rebuild the entire culture of the club. It was vital that we allowed ourselves the chance to do that, and we have done.

The highlights are Ritchie, Gayle and Diame. There's real PL quality in those three. Keeping Mbemba and Mitrovic is also a real bonus to come from the window.

Onwards.

Keeping Mbemba is brilliant. Going to have a class season.

This.

Been a superb window in which we've done our business with minimum fuss despite the number of players going out. Delighted to see the back of some of the shit, and delighted that they've been replaced by players that actually give a fuck.

I don't think we've come out of the window looking any worse whatsoever. Would like to have seen another ball playing midfielder come in. Will be very interesting to see what Rafa does with Tiote now he's staying.

Are Satka and Good still with us then? I thought they had both gone out on loan, the official site wasn't telling me owt as the links were dead (assume they actually aren't).

Percentage wise we don't appear to have many development players that ever come through.

Hope this is one area we vastly improve on under Rafa.
