U2
The Gouf clearly does exactly what Rafa expects, seeing how often he starts. On that basis, nobody can claim he's shite or you're disagreeing with the judgement of the guy busy transforming us.
ujpest doza
The stats when he starts a game this season versus when he doesn't say otherwise. Proper grafter, not the best player in the world, but excellent for us this season.

Foluwashola
Gouffran does a good no at this level. Will never be a hipster favourite, but played a vital role so far. Obviously needs binned when we go up.

He isn't shite in the Championship but will be shite when we go up, therefore he's shite for a club of our stature. Loads of shite players do alright in the championship
Hanshithispantz
Gouffran "HAS to play" man He's having a solid season, let's not go overboard. Darlow is probably the only player in our squad who HAS to play as the alternative keeps throwing games.
Conjo
Gouffran has had a better season than Ritchie. It should be Astu instead of Ritchie in my eyes.
Scoot
Gouffran has had a better season than Ritchie. It should be Astu instead of Ritchie in my eyes. Got to agree with this. Is it 5 goals for Gouffran this season? Not sure on the assists but it wouldn't surprise me if that was higher than Ritchie's as well.

joeyt
Ritchie has 5 assists and Gouffran has 3 assists (both league). Ritchie also has 2 cup assists They've both scored 5 goals in all competitions. 4 for Gouffran in the league, 3 for Ritchie
Scoot
I see. Anyway the point still stands. If either winger is going to be dropped it should be Ritchie rather than Gouffran. Gouffran is having a better season, it's as simple as that.

Hanshithispantz
It's not as simple as that at all like Ritchie's had a few quiet games but his delivery is generally pretty great regardless, and he's a far bigger part of out attacking play than Gouffran is. Atsu usually replaces Ritchie as it's more like for like (totally different players but both attack minded). Gouffran is in the team to hustle and bustle and has managed to grab a few goals. He's done well like, but he's hardly been lightyears ahead of anyone else to the point of it being 'simple as that'.

Ritchie needs to improve his game, he said himself only recently. Until he does if anyone is going to make way for Atsu it's him. It is canny simple like but obviously not for you. You'll get there in the end though, don't worry.
TRon
Said it a few times now, but you are fine playing hard grafting wide men like Gouffran and Ritchie if you have two good full backs who will overlap. The problem is we don't, or at least we don't play them. But in this division even if you play fairly poorly a side like ours is still going to win most games so you can't really argue with Rafa's logic. Don't concede...win. ponsaelius
Ritchie is a far better footballer than Gouffran and I'm genuinely stunned as to what the fuck people have been watching and their respective opinions on football to come to such a conclusion. His delivery and ability on the ball is far better, and his level of quality in our play along with Shelvey is one of the reasons we're dominating games at this level. Gouffran is a turd. A winger who can't cross, pass or take people on. He's filling a space, and it's useful for sure, the workrate and the odd goal, but replacing him with a proper left winger would improve the side in the way Routledge did with the 09/10 side. He's the position we'd most benefit from upgrading on in January, but it seems people have become so used to watching dross over the years that wide players with no ability have become accepted and even vaunted.
