Anyone think Shearer would have passed from there?

You're right there mate, the similarities between Shearer and Perez in the penalty area are almost endless.

The defender was travelling faster than Ritchie too. The shite shot was the issue, not the lack of pass.

Aye a still image tells you fuck all. If the defender is travelling faster than Ritchie then it most definitely isn't on. Was just a shit shot

TBF you've frozen that at the exact split second the pass was on. The opportunity didn't last long, it wasn't that easy.

It's almost like that's the same for every decision made on a football pitch, made by millionaires.

What point are you making? He had to make a snap decision, rather than wait 2 minutes to weigh up the options? Erm, yeah.

If he'd absolutely twatted it and it smacked the bar, or something, I'd have found the whole incident more forgivable. But I probably would have still felt he should have passed. The fact it was such a terrible effort is what really rankled.

You could see exactly what was going to happen the second time, too. He was always gonna try and square it. He honestly reminded me of a timid Under-11 striker with that second effort. Got absolutely blasted by a teammate moments prior, and was scared of getting any more pelters. They're not all as weak as Perez but it really typified what a fragile mess our squad is in terms of mentality.

Regardless of what was the right or wrong thing to do with the benefit of hindsight and  screenshots from other angles than his own, he had every right to shoot from there.

The decision-making and execution second time around were inexcusable mind. Was like when you're playing pro evo/fifa and press the wrong button by mistake.
