Newcastle United 1 - 1 Leeds United - 14/04/17 - Post-match deflation from pg 26

Recommended Posts

How would a Leeds fan get onto the pitch unless he was in the home end?

I reckon it's because they open the doors at the back of the stands to get out at a point in the 2nd half.  Usually you get a few wander in that support us so this was always going to happen one day.

he was defo a Leeds fan and the banter turned to hate as soon as he started beating his chest and saying some sort of chant.  Loads across the front of the Gallowgate tried to get at him but the dozen in the corner did as he was dragged through the meat curtain.

What was a surprise in this age of security was that it took ages for a steward to bother their arse and there was no coppers to be seen anywhere.

4 shots on target from 22 poor imo.  Should be at least 1 in 3.

Those stats are wrong, for a start two of Ritchie's shots, one which deflected over off the albino's head was given as not on target, and another hit with his right foot, same with the Perez deflected shot too.

He seemed to get attacked 3 times while he was escorted across the front of the Gallowgate and then it looked to have kicked off once he reached the corner.

Deflected shots aren't on target unless it's the last man.  These stats I've got are from Opta.

Well that's a complete load of bollocks then, it's either going between the posts or not from when it's struck.

Who the fuck dreams the reasoning up for shit like that, what a fuckwad.

I've watched their goal again, and it really was one you shouldn't concede when you're defending a lead in injury time. There was a huge gap between the centre backs and no-one from midfield was covering the space either. And it was a huge amount of space, right in front of the goal.

I'd put it down to nerves. We lack calm leadership and our players were all over the place.

I'm not condoning violence but it was funny to see that Leeds fan getting a few on the way out of the corner, no doubt he's a hero to them as he gained an extra couple of minutes of injury time.

That was nothing compared to what happened to him once outside. The stewards were trying to get him down to the police van waiting to take him away which was parked outside the Strawberry when he was ambushed by dozens of Toon fans. He literally had the sh*t kicked out of him before the police got control of the situation. He'll be in a hell of state this morning.

That'll learn him

Great intensity and effort from the team today, really enjoyed that. Without Gayle we miss that cutting edge and we still seem to lack that experience and nous to close games out. Lascelles switches off on too many occasions and to concede a goal like that at the end....

We're almost there though, last push!

Shelley and Mitrovic time wasting for them corners didn't help us much and indeed Shelvey  could easily have been sent off when applauding his yellow for it.      The actual wasting though gave the ref an opportunity to add on so much time. 6 subs made = 3 minutes + that and the 5 minutes  then looks to be in the ball park

That's the one element this team is clearly lacking. We don't have experienced players to shut games down when they need to. You simply can't concede goals like that one last night. Back four will look very different next season though.

Just goes to show then that this stat is flawed for basing how good a chance we had. Gouffran hit the post (I know that's off target), Ritchie had a couple of shots that were going in that were deflected over, so that's 7-8 very good chances created.

Have a feeling we wouldn't have conceded that goal if Clarke was playing, he has held this defence together for most of the season.  We've been very good at shutting games down for the majority of the season, no coincidence we've looked shaky since he's been out

Depends what your definition of a good chance is.  I'd say we had 4-5 good/very good chances which we should had took.

We've only scored 6 goals in our last 7 games, that for me should be a concern although we do seem to be creating chances in most of those games at least.

Still incredibly disappointed about this today. It's hard to fault the performance and the effort of the players and I know promotion is the goal but we've completely thrown this title away. Looking back on some of the games like QPR, both Blackburn games, Bristol and Villa away we have completely dropped a bollock. There is very little difference between us and Brighton despite everyone now saying the opposite - we've had opportunities against teams we should have killed off yet took our foot of the gas.

I think if we'd have won last night I could see us winning our remaining games and Brighton losing to Villa on the fina day. The gap is too big now and there's no pressure on them.

I just hope Huddersfield's and Leeds's late goals don't make us flap into a nervy fight for second.

Long time since I have been this disappointed with a result. We played very good, and where in complete control for most of the time.

Just devastating to concede so late in the game.

And WTF was the 5min for??

Anyway, we should have buried them long before that.

Every f***ing time at the end of games where we've chased a result there's been like 3 minutes added on, and every time we lead there's like an ridiculous amount of time added for whatever reason, at least it feels like it's this way, way too f***ing often. Never mind all the penalties we should have got this season that weren't given. And so much other stuff...I guess most fans feel like this about their teams, but when it comes to us this season it seriously isn't just black and white glasses on.

I just want us to get the fuck out this damn Championship asap!!

Could have swore someone said on here earlier Lascelles 1-0. Hope you didn't have a bet on it!

It was me. I was feeling so smug too

What were the odds for that?
