gdm
This bit tho. Ffs so so bored of this now Advisors representing the Sheikh insists his £350million offer for the Premier League club is genuine, although their current owner Mike Ashley has yet to see any proof of the takeover funds. Toon No9
Let's say the takeover is finished on say 10th of july and Rafa is out of contract. He is still free to sign a new contract with us. I don't get why it's so much focus on Rafas contract. First thing first. The most inportant thing is to get the takeover done. Rafas contract is a later issue. Just hope BZG is talking to Rafa if they want him to stay.
Guest chopey
Just seems like history repeating itself like with Shearer, contract runs out and he just walks away, if anyone was bothered they would have panicked and offered Rafa a new contract when the Celtic and Roma jobs were offered to him. I also think Rafas stock has falling massively since he became associated with us and he will never be offered the really big jobs again, we need him every bit as he needs us but it looks like it's not to be. Maybe it's Rafa who doesn't want to sign a new contract as long as Ashley is here. As long as the new owners wants him to stay it's no rush for him to sign anything now. Just in case he signs now and then Ashley pulls the plug on the takeover.
STM
You would have to assume that someone thinks the takeover will be done before Rafa's contract expires. Either the takeover falls through and Rafa decides on his future with Ashley or the takeover happens and (hopefully) Rafa is offered a different vision by the new lot. geordie john
No-one but Rafa knows of course, but it seems pretty likely that it's 'new owners (if they want me) and I'll sign, no new owners and I walk away with dignity'. In my humble opinion.....

TBG
I see the press have returned to saying there's been no proof of funds. Slow news day. They know we're guaranteed hits. That Mirror article about Mourinho basically says he's out of work, worked for Sir Bobby Robson and would talk to BZG IF they approached him. Could replace Mourinho with John Carver and it's the same article. Absolutely nothing of any substance.
David Edgar
I see the press have returned to saying there's been no proof of funds. Means they have nothing new to report on. Best just ignore it and don't waste your time reading a single article on the subject. Post more gifs if anything.

HawK
Would I be right If there was nothing to it the club would have rubbished it imo Why? How does that benefit Ashley? It's about patterns of behaviour. Hes quashed Staveley (who was genuine), and Kenyon (who he was mates with), why wouldnt he have dumped these lot by now. He will be inundated with questions, he could have responded at any time and hasn't. Not until after the story had served its purpose 2-3 weeks left to go, expect another drip-fed, sugar-coated shit pill to tide us over till then. JP
Why does time elapsing make everyone so nervous here? Look at all the facts of the situation. Don’t speculate and stay patient. We don’t have that long to wait really. Imagine at the Fulham game, saying we’d be close to a takeover by a Sheikh by mid June. Everyone would snap your hand off for that situation. Relax! Teasy
So what we are saying is staveley and Kenyon were set ups. This is just a great coincidence for him and hes gonna be over the moon None of them were setups.. The only thing setup about any of it was the timing of leaks about those past takeover attempts, which always happened near transfer windows.
Johneddy
Ashley would have to be some kind of sick twisted psychopath with fully complicit stooges in place to be staging all of this with the intended outcome of being able to chase Rafa, spend nothing - put in place a Neil Warnock or similar and add a few loanees to the squad during the last week of transfers. That would make him akin to Jekyll and Hyde or Norman Bates ... the taking down of the signs and reaction to it being all part of his twisted plot then

xLiaaamx
I really don't get what an extra five weeks of people not complaining as much buys him if its fake. It'll all unravel before the season begins even with the Fakeover. If its PR, its a poor move.
Wilson
Can you stop saying fakeover please. It's a Sheikhover. The only thing Ashley can be doing is ignoring it all and letting everyone debate about what's actually happening before eventually saying it's not happening. There's nothing staged on his part. Worst case scenario is that he's just laughing at all the speculation knowing he's not going anywhere, then eventually rubbishing it all. At that point all the conspiracy theorists will come out shouting TOLD YOU SO. I'm still at the point now where I'm still hopeful he decides to accept and fuck off... So far there's been nothing to make me think that's not going to be the case.

No chance it's a fakeover do people honestly think that a multi-billion pound group is going to get involved in a grand Ashley scheme, deluded if they are thinking that way
Johneddy
If Ashley’s ultimate goal is to get rid of Rafa, he doesn’t have to stage any fakeover. He just needs to let Rafa’s contract expire. The only reason to stage a fakeover would be to get the hopes of fans up before dashing them just as the season begins. But he does if the conn is indeed the intention here ... it buys him all of June and most of July to get in a replacement who is happy to spend 'all of the money the club generates' plus a loanee or two to keep the fans onside. In short it is just possible and I stress the JUST that another 90mill quid in the back pocket that bought Debenhams last year is his goal and who knows that is surely ... worth putting 5 mill in a Sheiks back pocket to play along to his merry tune All conjecture but getting into the mind of a psychopath driven purely by profit is interesting stuff
