Lets hope this latest statement prompts some sort of official response from MA's side, so we can either get on the bandwagon, or hoy wa'sells in the Tyne.

I think silence from Ashley is better right now TBH. He can make a heartfelt statement saying how much he's done for the club, after he's fucked off.

Think they have been forced to put out this extra statement today because of the flak the local journos have given them since their last statement. Deal would have been completed or something major would have happened on Friday had the journos not put doubts out too much about them.

Forced how? What would have happened if they didnt release any more comments before the sale was finalised? If there is a sale to be done that is.

Smells fishy to me.

Fit and proper test:

The Premier League has tighter restrictions than the Football League or National League. In general, a businessman will fail the test if:

They have power or influence over another Football League club

They hold a significant interest in another Football League club

They become prohibited by law from being a director

They are filing for bankruptcy

They have been director of a club while it has suffered two or more unconnected events of insolvency

They have been a director of two or more clubs of which, while they have been director, has suffered an event of insolvency

No chance he fails this.

Because of the absolute s*** from journalists and wannabe twitter ITKs over the last 72 hours they feel they have to come out as their reputation has been questioned. Look they have stated Ashley has agreed and signed off the takeover and it's in the hands of the league. If it's s*** Ashley will be coming out with his own statement very soon

We having a bet then? :azn:

Yep go for it don't want to put you out of pocket but £10 to any named charity. How's the investigation with Nick going anyway?  :D

You really have to question the motive behind all these press releases. For me they mean that they arent very close at all. If they were what would be the point?

I think their reputation would be just fine if they just finalised the deal in complete silence.

Actually their reputation would be better since that'd be the professional way to handle this.

Disagree totally, if it's s*** let's wait for the Ashley statement then as per Staveley as he has been quoted as signing off on a legal document

I know they claim that MA has signed paperwork, and hopefully that is true... but other than that, this seems to be going all 'Staveley' again.

One side appears to be doing all the running and noise making, until Fatboy gets 'frustrated' and pulls the plug with 'Timewasters'. Remember, Staveley showed Caulkin the bids she'd submitted, but MA/the club claimed no bids were made.

Staveley never claimed a price had been agreed from what I recall.

Correct as no price was ever agreed

Sun hawk that broke the story

What's "heads of terms" ?

Its a letter of intent to buy the club which would outline details like the agreed price, payment details and other info about the proposed purchase.

A lot of contracts have very standard detail in them.  ‘Heads of Terms’ is used to signify the key details in any agreement.  Say you took out a rental on a house, you’d have all of the standard rental info and your heads of terms would be likes of rent payable per month, term of contract, etc.

Seeing 'Newcastle' on the list of potential destinations for players like Mbappe, Ramos and Bale is just plain fucking weird.  Gonna take a hell of a lot of getting used to if this actually happens

I don’t understand why the Bin Zayed group is releasing these statements unless they are annoyed by incorrect information being circulated in the press. However their statements are specific enough I think we would have absolutely gotten a statement from Ashley/the club if they were completely making it up.

Think you've answered your own questions there.

I dont think they are making everything up but I dont see why they'd release these if the deal was a matter of days/a week from completion. They are playing something, probably trying to push Ashley.

Think we'll be waiting for a while to see if anything happens.

E; I mean it wouldnt make sense to be that annoyed if they knew they could complete the deal soon. Then none of this would matter or be remembered.
