Joelinton: suspended for Ipswich, not Brentford

Recommended Posts

On another night those chances go in and we're bowing at his feet. I thought he was brilliant tonight and didn't deserve to be on the losing side or come off. Correlation isn't causation and all that but when he came off we completely felt apart.

First half he was our best player. Shouldn't have started out on the right but did a decent job and likewise did similar on the left. I though Bruno was fairly anonymous, Gordon wasn't his usual influential self and Willock just had a bad day at the office.

Kelly lost his man for the first and then we were on the back foot with no real leaders.

Missed Dan Burn and Trippier for that.

Our ambition is top 4/5 and we lost at home to West fucking Ham because we missed Dan Burn and a 34 year old Kieran Trippier. Surely even you must cringe when you come out with stuff like that in *defence* of the manager.

We missed them for their leadership. I didn't say it would necessarily have changed the result.

Maybe I’m not following him as closely in recent times (haven’t seen as much live football this season), but where has the view he’s not a centre mid come from? I get that for the balance of the team he shouldn’t necessarily play there, but the reason he turned his career round here and got himself into the Brazil squad was because Eddie played him there and he became our player of the season.

Do we know why he came off? Was it just straight tactics?

Why does every opponent we face, outside of roughly Liverpool and Man City, have to be portrayed as dogshit? Makes the discourse so much worse. I'm not saying it's a forgivable result but we've not been beaten by some no-marks there; they've had a ropey start but were very good tonight.

The league is extremely competitive this year. Even apparent crap like Southampton are capable of giving the runaway leaders a scare.

Really not sure. He did seem like he was tiring a bit, but we definitely lost something when he went off regardless.

If that makes you feel better that we’re 10th and only going one way, so be it.

Really? Last time I checked we're a win away from 6th and potentially only 2 points behind Man City.

With this squad and this manager, do you see us finishing top 6?

This west ham team is very very bad. Regardless of the result they are so poor

Honestly, the match still bears that out for me. They gave up so many chances. This wasn't a resolute defensive display or some incredible counter attack trap, we missed huge chances, they took what they had then played well at 2-0. It might give them the confidence to go on a run but there was no sea change in most of that performance.

I don't see why not. So I'll nail my colours to the mast. Yes.

I'm sure most are frustrated but there is alot of season left and a January window. If the team finishes midtable at the end of the season Mr. Howe might be out and that is just how it is. That hasn't happened yet so let's see what happens. they can make Europe with the team they have. Have to get more consistent.

I don't feel better, I just feel relatively relaxed about most defeats these days. It's just very tedious when reality gets ignored in favour of made-up stuff like our opponents being shite, or something.

The table position doesn't even mean that much when it's so tight and our immediate competitors are also stuttering. The teams currently in 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th all dropped bad points this weekend - most giving then away to teams lower in the table.

I honestly thought they were awful. I’m shook we didn’t beat them. I thought they were trash

He's been a lot better in possession and as a part of stringing things together in the final third when he plays further up the pitch. He roams and interchanges with other players brilliantly and it just works really well.

He had started getting into a habit of dwelling on the ball in central areas and getting dispossessed in dangerous areas. It was just more clunky.
