spreadsheet nonces on here were genuinely saying we should have sold him in order to keep Minteh and Anderson

How old does the spreadsheet need to be before its data can be legally manipulated? :2funny:

of course Joe could still perform for us and that’s exactly why we should sell him now.

I don’t understand why some of you complaining the club for unable to get decent transfer fees which leads to PSR problems, without realizing that the main reason is because we sold toooooo fucking late

Spreadshit nounce?

Looks far, far better in his proper position on the wing - especially with Willock behind him.  I hope we never see him in midfield again - but I'd start him every week on the wing.

I genuinely don't see how we can move him back in there. He's so much more dangerous roaming from those wide positions.

We're really going to have to figure this thing out, because it will have an effect on what we do in the market as a priority.

Needs a run on that right side to see if it's a viable longer term role.

Am I right in thinking he got a decent amount go G/A when playing on the wing when we finished 4th ?

I remember making a stat about it last year to argue that we simply did much better as a team when he started as a winger in the 22/23 season. I found it:

Some stats from last season. Counting games where he played more than 45 minutes.

Joelinton at LW: 8-3-0 (GD 23-4) (4 goals 1 assist)

Joelinton at CM: 4-9-5 (GD 24-23) (2 goals 1 assist)

Since the start of last season we've won 5 out of 22 games with Joelinton playing at CM.

Man goes and plays right wing for the first team for us and looks like he’s been playing there for ages. Unreal versatility. I’d actually play him right or left depending on which winger we need to nullify. And if the onus is on us to attack more I’d stick him where it allows Gordon to cook best. If Gordon is out then Barnes takes the natural left side.

It was part of the reason that I was a bit surprised when we bought Barnes, like I kind of just accepted that we weren't going to play Joelinton that much at LW anymore. Thought it was because we needed him to cover CM for depth. Happy he's back and performing at LW like in 22/23. That said, do we how well he works at LW when Willock isn't there to interchange? Did we try that? I think his strengths are still best suited for the wing anyways.

Ya that’s why I thought we’d be placing AG at right wing and keeping the big and little Joe deadly combo. Adding Tonali was the upgrade on CM are.

assumed we’d also go with that style in the CL and just press like maniacs and kill the games.

@Erikse putting it this way, I genuinely thought we’d see Bruno a right sided 8, Tonali as a 6. But the two actually legitimately covering for one another. Willock as the LCM and etc. I thought the evolution in attacking play was a ? But I assumed we’d just go for broke and we’d see Willock develop into this all action attacking mid we saw at the end of the 22/23. Joelinton would continue to add goals. Isak would be lights out and we were going to bank on AG being an all around improvement on the intensity of Miggy.

Granted I want Maddison to play that wide right role and was annoyed we didn’t get him.

Yeah I think the expectations before the season didn't end up being correct, but the Willock injuries were so annoying. I honestly think we would've had to deal with rumours of all the top clubs wanting him right now if he stayed fit. A bit extreme, but he was only 22 in that 22/23 season and he already had some very exciting abilities. The sky was the limit for him.

I think Maddison would've been fantastic for us personally.

Yes, the form he was in before he had that nasty injury, thought he was destined for greatness and deserved an England call-up soon. We finished 7th last year, imagine just having him fit 50% more last season? FFS

Yes, I was wondering if it was Maddison + Tonali!
