Re the Thauvin argument:

Keep Thauvin for the bench for now 35 (14.2%)

Give Thauvin a proper run in the side 152 (61.8%)

Bin Thauvin and bring Townsend in 30 (12.2%)

Just get rid of Thauvin and forget about it 29 (11.8%)

Reckon a similar poll about Joelinton will see similar results?

Not going to lie and say i've watched a lot of our games since Rafa went i just keep up to date waiting for the day we get our club back, So regarding Joe i won't judge him until we have a manager incharge , Confidence is one thing he is lacking and i wouldn't want that from Brucie boy telling him to just  continue running

Given the replies to this and the responses Kaka has had for not absolutely slating the lad and saying he’s shite reminds me of Thauvin in almost every way. A young player new to the league asked to play in an unfamiliar position by a poor manager in system that didn’t suite him. I can’t remember a player that got more stick from the fan base at the time, a couple of years later he’s in the French team with all of their attacking options.

I don’t think anyone in the right mind would try and suggest Joelinton has been anything other than terrible. I also don’t think you’re really stretching to suggest there’s a good player there somewhere, like Thauvin. Getting the best out of him and whether that’ll happen here seems increasingly unlikely though.

Just imagine being good enough to get into that French team, but being slated while at this tragic club man

I see the latest old trope about Joelinton is that he can't kick a ball now, just like Luuk De Jong supposedly couldn't. Only at Newcastle these players suddenly can't kick a ball

Just send Joelinton out to someone that knows what the hell they are doing and go and get Troy Deeney in, which is what the fans here really want. He'll cherish every hoof at his noggin, charge around like a Buffalo and smash into people to their heart's delight.

You're saying this like Luuk de Jong hasn't been shite every time he's played in a decent league (Germany, England, Spain). He was dreadful for Sevilla for most of this season and would be dreadful if he lumbered back into the Premier League.

Nothing more needs to be said.

I've seen enough.

And you're entitled to that opinion. Just like I am mine, and I think he's being screwed over royally.

You are wasting your time man. Some fans when they see a 6ft plus striker don't want to see him fannying about trying to play cute angled passes, especially if they lose the ball when they attempt to do it. They want a big lad climbing for the ball and clattering defenders, elbows optional. With Bruceball they are probably right.

Yep, EVERYONE is saying exactly that. Well done.

"cute angled passes"

But Klopp rates him, that's good enough for me.

Nagelsmann too

Ralf Ragnick also

I'm guessing pretty much everyone in German football, but Newcastle Online knows best  :laugh2:

Hope they're queuing up to sign him?

I hope they are too, so he could make you all look silly.

However the German clubs won't touch him for the wages we have gone on to pay him, as Ragnick himself said about why he couldn't compete with us to sign him for RB Leipzig in the first place.

Yet for 20m no one will still sign him, I wonder why.

Why should they pay £20 million, when we were stupid enough to pay £40 million for him and then tank his value? Why on earth should they do us any kind of favour?

They will all sit back and wait for the depreciating asset that is still being mismanaged to drop to absolute peanuts and then swoop in. Likely sign him for a low loan fee and make us pay at least half of his wages when we get desperate enough.

I didn't say EVERYONE is saying that, I said specifically some fans actually. I actually do like his efforts to lay the ball off at good angles, doesn't always come off but it shows something. Not going to argue about it too much though because it's not enough to make up for his deficiencies. The type who are whingeing from the first minute though, kind of obvious in the match thread that they are going in on one player only when in fact there are problems before the ball even gets to forward areas.

Him moving on and making a success of himself is as much down to his application in his new surroundings as the new surroundings themselves.

He may well turn his career around, but that won't change the fact that he's given up here, and it's visible on the pitch.

Multiple things can be true at once, you know:

1. Joelinton has been an unmitigated disaster for NUFC.

2. Joelinton could easily turn it around elsewhere. He was rated before we signed him (maybe not to the tune of £40mil) and played well in the Bundesliga, under a very good manager, before the transfer. He’s 24 years old and doesn’t lack for physical attributes that would otherwise preclude him making the cut in a top league.

 nah, don't think so.

Klopp likes him and has already used a player we got relegated with previously to go on and win the league, and so knows we specialise in mismanaging players.

Should try and swap him for Brewster or Origi who are both available and are more in line with what Bruce prefers.

Dont use that as an excuse though? McClaren mismanaged every player that season. Thauvin went back to france played extremely well and called up to the national side. In reference to Gini we used him advanced and he scored 11 goals very good return, I'd agree he's doing a job at Liverpool, but it's nothing major or anything to do with how well he's suddenly been managed, he was a good player to start with, and he joined a very good side, Klopp has used him where he sees useful for Liverpool.

I don't think its mismanaged etc like you say, I just dont think we're the right club for him (Joelinton), sometimes that's just the way it is.

Wijnaldum is a very good example actually, he was getting pelters on here, then he joined a club in the same league and has won the title and the European cup. Now obviously Joelinton isn't in the same league as Gini, but we do have some fans with an ugly attitude towards certain players and they are usually of a certain type.
