Willock would have been the obvious choice, but he's really looked lacklustre since coming back. Miley seems more of a Bruno swap out for me, not sure he's really suited to pulling out wide like Joelinton does. Never really seen him out on the left tbh.

Yeah. I said similar in this thread or somewhere else about Miley. I’d still rather that against someone like Forest than playing Burn at left back v Elanga.

Just getting all the quotes in from the Sky Sports app this morning. Doesn’t sound particularly promising regarding the timeframe.

When will Joelinton be ready to return?

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on when Joelinton will be fit to return:

"We hope by that time [Carabao Cup Final] he will be back fit and available.

"He is very driven to get back and is making good progress.

"When he approaches his injury, he is very positive to get back and shave time off the estimated target that he has been given, which is a great thing, but also, we need to control that and make sure that he comes back in a really good place. He is very positive at the moment."

I hate how we’re never open about longer lay-offs. I’m sure there’s probably a reason for it but as a fan the constantly extending injury periods is really frustrating. Especially for someone as important to how we play as Big Joe.

Cannot afford to risk his suspension in Brighton/West Ham games.

Bring him back for the final, he is a starter.

I don't think standard suspensions are cross-competition anymore, are they?

Not sure how he escaped the yellow card tonight, 5 fouls

All them were nothing fouls though barring the last maybes

Not many refs actually book for numerous fouls thesedays anyway

Yeah. Some brain dead fouls and his customary row Z shot. But that’s just Big Joe. Got to take the rough with the smooth.

Hard to pick MOTM. No real standout and more flashes here and there. But he is up there with Trippier and Barnes, for me.

I like him a lot and he's easily our 3rd best CM but fuck me do we need to upgrade on him.

A consistent creative midfielder would be great to have.

He looks back to a good level physically, which had been missing when he was clearly playing through an injury. I think if he can make Sunday a bruising encounter it could really help us. Just needs to thread the needle of combativeness
