toon25
For some inexplicable reason I'm still half expecting things to click and for us to go on some sort of Wigan-esque second half of season run where we look like world beaters.
Elliottman
Thought I was having a panic attack in bed at the thought of this team going down.

AfroP
if we keep playing as poorly as what we have been and fail to replace Ba i think we have a very very real chance of going down

Ronaldo
At 4 currently. Lose at Norwich and I'll be at a 6. 4 moving to 5 for me.
ExiledGeordie
Krul Debuchy Saylor Colo Santon Anita Cabaye Jonas/Tiote HBA Cisse Marveaux (new striker - Remi?) If we can field a team like that or close to it regularly for much of the 2nd half of the season maybe with the additional strength of a new CB recruited then I think we'll be ok. We've been utter dogshite but we can't really get much worse especially with the names we've had out and still to come back into the side plus new signings. Reading and QPR have it all to do to get out of it and with a team like the one above we should have enough to pull away from the likes of S'ampton, Villa, Wigan etc
Ikon
Would start Bigi ahead of Jonas and Tiote.
Tiresias
I'd move marv into a midfield with cabaye and anita and...play obertan on left if no new signings there
CaliMag
Still a 6 which I have voted for the past few months. I expected us to lose the last three so no change there. I am waiting to see if we suddenly gain an understanding among the midfielders we have, if we sign anyone and how well they fit in.
Guest Eggenberger
One suspension or small injury to Cisse and Im betting on us going down. we are fragile at the moment, there is no doubt about it.

bowlingcrofty
Looking at our remaining fixtures and it's quite worrying. We don't seem capable of picking up an away point, never mind three. We probably need to win 6 out of the remaining game and 3 or 4 draws.
ExiledGeordie
All tough games really but............ Winnable vital home games: Reading Southampton Fulham Stoke (Stoke aren't the same away from home) Difficult home games: Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea Mackems (never can tell with a derby) Crucial away games:.... QPR Villa Wigan Away games where some points might be possible Norwich Swansea West Ham West Brom Away games nothing expected at all Man City Spurs

ExiledGeordie
Given we haven't won away from home all season I should probably file all the away games under "expecting nothing"
bowlingcrofty
14 home points and 6 away required as a minimum. The thing we haven't had this season is an "unexpected" victory. We need to pull some points out of the harder games. Chelsea at home or Spurs away. Wigan won at Spurs, QPR won at Chelsea, Reading beat Everton, Southampton got results from Stoke away and Arsenal, Villa won at Anfield. We need a similar big result or two. Dave
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20922242 Newcastle in 'real danger' of relegation, says Alan Pardew Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has conceded that his side are in "real danger" of relegation from the Premier League if performances do not improve. The St James' Park club suffered another setback as they were beaten 2-0 at Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday. A series of injuries forced Pardew to field a weakened Newcastle side. "We need to get our best players back and quickly," said Pardew. "We need to sustain ourselves and make sure we're a Premier League team next season." He added: "We want to stay there but we are in danger and we need to get our best players out on the pitch." Fabricio Coloccini and Papiss Cisse were not risked, having picked up minor knocks in the midweek defeat by Everton, while Yohan Cabaye and Steven Taylor have still to recover from long-standing injury problems. Newcastle came into this match having lost nine of their past 11 in the league and six out of seven in all competitions, and Pardew did not hide his frustration at the final whistle. "We didn't have enough quality on the pitch for a Newcastle team," he said. "We are missing so many players." "Our younger players gave everything they could but it wasn't enough. It didn't help when we went down to 10 men." Having lost Demba Ba to Chelsea, Pardew remains keen to bring in another striker before the end of the January transfer window. Marseilles striker Loic Remy is understood to be under consideration and for the Newcastle manager reinforcements cannot come quickly enough. "If I am being honest that team was a shadow of the team we can put on the field," he said. "We need to get some bigger players back, who can handle the situation of carrying the Newcastle jersey. Whether that is a signing or getting a player back from injury, I don't know." There may be some relief for the Magpies, with Pardew hopeful Cabaye and Taylor will be fit for Saturday's trip to Norwich.
Guest neesy111
I'm sure Ashley will be delighted with all this talk about relegation from Pardew.
Beren
Didn't realise Cabaye/Taylor returning was that close. Added in with Debuchy, that could make a real difference.
alexf
The club seems to be stuck in a losing mentality now which will be very hard to turn around.
Decky
I hope we're not rushing Cabaye and Taylor out of desperation.
