Of course it’ll be defined, man. Will it be advertised to journalists? No, but how can you successfully navigate a transfer window when you don’t know your budget? Such a good investment for the PIF. let’s see how much Manchester United go for. Or remember they committed about 5b for Chelsea

So about £640m - not a bad return (so far) on a £350m investment, even factoring in a £70m loss in the first full accounting year.

A half decent performance in Europe and a solid domestic campaign and I don't see why not, assuming we add some assets in the summer/January. West Ham are just over $1bn - do they own their stadium or do they just lease it?
AyeDubbleYoo
Guess getting some money for no work might be considered better than loads more money for some more work. Ashley obviously prefers the former.

It's usually a gang of West Ham, Everton, Aston Villa and Leicester (for Leicester it's obvious why not now) below the top 6.
AyeDubbleYoo
It's amazing how enduring the value of Man Utd has been considering they haven't been good for ages now. Guess the commercial presence is immense. And Los Angeles has two football clubs worth a billion?! Edited May 31, 2023 by AyeDubbleYoo
BonesJones
Is this increase in value mainly based on the players we've purchased or the success we've had? Or what else?
ponsaelius
With any London club you could simply include the real estate value of their stadium and training ground within an estimate in value. It doesn't seem so inflated if you consider it that way.

Guess the commercial presence is immense. I saw a quote somewhere about them having 1bn fans globally, although they only turnover £500m or so per year so only 50p per fan per year. Make that £1 per fan per year and they're turning over £1bn/year. I'm not sure it's quite that simple but it was being used to explain the valuation given and the potential for growth even for a massive club like Man Utd.
