Abraham’s goal was a belter. Real chance for him to cement an England squad place this season.

The Pellegrini goal (I think) was Xavi, Messi Iniesta type of goal - played into Tammy, who flicks it to Vertout, who then plays it into Pellegrini - all in about 4 seconds  - sensational goal

A little bit but not massively. Played a lot of football - 50 Serie A games in two seasons. Was generally decent too. More just a case of him being very old and Fiorentina looking to move on after a poor season. They cleared the decks quite a bit this summer (and had a pretty good window I thought).

Tbf Juve were without Chiesa, Dybala, Cuadrado, Danilo, Alex Sandro and Bentancur. That's pretty much all their attacking momentum and full-backs.

They've definitely got issues though. Not seen a Juve team look as weak as they did today in a long time. Ronaldo massively papered over the cracks, and the team was built around him, much to the detriment of other areas of the squad. Now, overnight, they don't even have him.

But it's still too early to rule them out. Allegri could pull something together with this squad. You only have to look at the 2015/2016 season to see it would be churlish to rule them out.

Atalanta have probably the best squad they've ever had. So much strength in depth now.

And yet somehow I can't help but feel the magic has gone. With Papu and the Ilicic of a couple of years ago you felt they could rip teams apart at any moment and break down any defence. They don't quite have that. Need more from the likes Miranchuk and Malinovskyi.

Glad you enjoyed it. The author is an absolute eejit like. Although his fish out of water and brash American abroad shtick probably drives the story on somewhat he absolutely did my head in at certain points. I think that's why A Season With Verona is still the better of the two.

Haven't got it yet as I'm waiting for the paperback but this looks a good read too - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Juve-Herbie-Sykes/dp/1787290514/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
