If he wasn't already I think Mitchell and his team will be firmly in the driving seat for deciding who comes in. Realistically the club and Mitchells role is setting a consistent style and vision throughout the club so whomever comes in as a player or manager they shouldn't need to adjust and play X bought in january shouldn't be a Howe player but a Newcastle player that will also fit the new manager.

Yeah, on pitch performance, especially away from home will be degrading Eddie’s influence on the club. Our big money signings are from his preferences and they’re not living up to their abilities.

I absolutely love the guy, but he’s running out of time and I am sure Mitchell is itching to impose his will on how we’re run, including shaking up the squad Eddie built.

Who do people realistically think could come in and do better?  Sadly the players that got us forth in the league are on the decline - Pope, Tripps, Schar, Burn - we've also players out of form in Joelinton, Gordon, Bruno (to an extent - not hit the form when we finished 4th).  We've also still got Championship level players in Longstaff and Murphy.  The squad isn't the best - which is one of the reasons for our inconsistency.  Add to that our RW/LW are very young and still learning their trade.

Would anyone have been able to predict who the current Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea managers would be about six months ago?  There is a narrative of ‘there’s no-one out there’, but clearly that isn’t the case.

But it would be fun. And it isn't like we are allowed to compete, so why not fuck about with Mourinho for half a season or so?

How would it be fun? You actually paid attention to the football his sides play or his last however many jobs?

The man’s an utter prick and past it.

Know next to nowt about Terzic other than he was in charge of Dortmund and got to the CL final in addition to doing the double on us.

After reading the article KaKa posted about Conceicao I'd also take him.

And after reading many a James Horncastle article I'd also have Allegri.

Think Terzic and Conceicao are more likely though if we were looking for a replacement.

It wouldn’t be fun at all.  Did you ever watch a Mourinho side?  ‘Fun’ isn’t how I’d describe it.

Yeah, Liverpool plucked this bald guy from a really "meh" league. - If Mitchell does his job we will get someone that will work with how he sees the club run for the future, with our without that manager.

I suppose the reason you don’t get rid of a manager is because they will come good and achieve your ambitions. Howe is not going to do that, is he? He will never win us anything.  Being honest with ourselves, he isn’t.  Nor will any other fucker, of course, but a roll of the dice can at least freshen things up, spark…something. We are like the definition of a football ceiling at this point but personally I would enjoy a new manger to give us that same boost Howe did. So whatever.

Nonsense!

We don't have a ceiling.

Klopp said so remember? 😅

That’s probably the most football managery kind of post I’ve read on here, top work

Mitchell should be having discussions with Iraola about coming here from Bournemouth.

If he can get them playing the sort of football they do with a Ryan Christie and Lewis Cook partnership in midfield then surely he can better that with Bruno and Tonali.

This was probably the same reasoning why we got Howe tbf. We need to aim higher than this if we’re rolling the dice.

I back him 100 per cent but if he doesn’t get into Europe this season (or win a cup lol) he’ll be gone.

Hiring Mourinho isn’t about the football. It’s about the silly bollocks.

Let’s have 18 months watching the press conferences and forget the matches.

Just don’t want to see him in someone else’s dugout.

Sounding like a jealous ex!

"We don't want him. But no one else can have him either..." 😅

Felt the same about Benitez. That turned out okay in the end.

The performances had taken a massive dive, and he was managing a club which had a turnover level with Liverpool.  It was underperformance and looking like a decline.  Souness being utterly incompetent was the issue with his replacement.

That was a crushing fucking bit of news. I heard so many people claiming souness was a great appointment that I thought I’d moved to fucking Oz or something.
