Displayname
Fantastic manager, but I think you could say that building and managing a squad to last a whole season isnt his strong side. Rotating is a thing he needs to learn if he ever is going to be counted among the absolute best. Cant really blame PSR for not having options to rotate since he has had enough to spend during his time here to build a full squad of decent options. Now before you get all worked up, its not at all like I want him gone. His qualities more than make up for his weaknesses. But we should be allowed to voice our frustrations after a second home loss in a row
jigen
With your game you must be physically at top. Because you lack creative players on the wings.
Kanj
I have never seen a clear answer to what a plan b actually is in real life given it seems like most teams use plan A, bring subs to continue with the same plan and then if that’s not working it’s hoy it in the box. Dokko
I'll say it again, he needs to surround himself with new people with different ideas.

Stevie Wonder would tell you the performance wasn't great, but I feel like some people post on here just for the sake of posting. Shit performance aside, we're still just 6 points off 2nd place. Had someone offered you that at the beginning of the season with no signings you would've snapped their hands off. Howe's not perfect, but its getting tiresome reading the same stuff after every defeat man. Why do some people get so precious about others discussing the football? Yorkie
Happy to lazily just point at PSR again tbh. The investment we've done so far has got us so far but the inability to keep going really undermines the progress made. It seems we are now hopeless at trying to overturn a deficit at home and the lack of meaningful bench options is a significant reason for that. Willock in theory should be a help but it's been four years of stop-start with him; it ain't happening now. The Barnes injury, on top of the Wilson situation, was an absolute sickener. No one is getting precious, when people make valid points it's refreshing, however go through this place when we lose... Skeletor
If we won the League Cup (which we already have the advantage for the second leg) then I could care less really what happens the rest of the season. We'd have achieved something I started to believe I'd never see. Edited 7 hours ago by Skeletor
Superior Acuña
Of the teams below us (5th) and above 16th, we've only beaten Villa at home. And they're a quality 'big' club in a game everyone is up for before it's even started. For me beyond just the problems of depth we have a really issue against good to half decent sides who are not 'big' teams. We'll raise our game for Liverpool, Man City, Villa, Tottenham etc, and we'll beat Wolves, Leicester, Southampton cos they're shit. Anything in between we're poor for at home. Luckily this season we've had good away form though.

There'll probably still be plenty of rotation in the part of the table we're in before the end. Chelsea hit a bit of a wall recently too (one win in seven). These things are bound to happen in a competitive league where we've had our coat tails yanked back by the rules.

Sure, but I'd be riding a cloud for the rest of the season so 5th, 6th, 7th - who would care at that point. Winning the League Cup would be a life time memory for most of us. Dokko
Go all out for the semi and if we make it, final. Games around it, put the stiffs. Die on the pitch in terms of intensity in the LC games and leave nothing behind.

TheBrownBottle
Wednesday night is what matters for me. Our home performances vs midtable sides have been an issue for some time and need addressing, but I think that would require further overhaul of the team and tweaking of tactics which isn’t likely to happen until the summer. Not going through to the LC final would feel sickening.

Howe's not perfect, but its getting tiresome reading the same stuff after every defeat man. You said it right there yourself. Generally people only criticise after a poor performance, even Eddie Howe does the same thing. If we'd put in a good show and it was a ding dong battle then you just put it down to bad luck. Two home defeats in a row, a poor showing, and the players looking well off it, and obviously it will cause concern.
The Prophet
It's been a strange old season, but in terms of poor performances, games that really stand out: Fulham 3-1 Newcastle Newcastle 2-0 West Ham Palace 1-1 Newcastle Brentford 4-2 Newcastle Newcastle 1-4 Bournemouth Newcastle 1-2 Fulham We've shown that we'll bully and outplay the cannon fodder or poorly coached sides of the league and we'll raise our game against the teams competing in the Champions League spots, but there's been a strange gray area, filled with rank poor showings. We have really struggled against (generally midtable) organised sides, who aren't physically intimidated by our press and have found ways to get at the back four. As well as being outplayed, these performances have typically appeared low effort and lethargic, with us descending into a tactical mess as the match progresses. It's getting to the stage now where I'm more confident going into Man City away than I was today What's causing it? Fuck knows, but it's becoming a theme this term. While I'm sure it's another challenge that Mr Howe will overcome, it's frustrating when we're in the thick of competing for the top five.
midds
Loathe to criticise him but at times he does seem a bit "same again lads?". Formations and personnel do seem a bit automatic and I get it so some extent - why change a winning team? The honest answer is that if you play the same players in the same formation repeating the same patterns of passing etc then you become very predictable very quickly. I get the logic, I get the continuity thing but you cant just keep on turning the handle and expect opponent after opponent to just succumb purely because the last 4 or 5 have. It's not a massive pop at Howe but predictability has been a common theme. Love the bloke but change it up from time to time eh? Offer different questions to the ones they've been training for the last fortnight? They know what's coming ffs. Mix it up
Lush Vlad
I’m not saying he does think like this. But ‘why change a winning team’ is one of my football pet hates. Feels massively amateur and a lower league way of thinking. Like every game and team you face are not the same. Plus the players are not necessarily fine to go for 70-80-90 minutes every week or twice a week. At the minute. It seems the subs aren’t contributing and seem massively out of form. But they have no chance of playing themselves into form. As they’re not getting meaningful minutes or any starts. Joelinton will be banned soon and Willock or Miley will probably come in. Maybe even Longstaff as he’s more trusted. One is out of form. The other two have barely played for what, the last 6 weeks or so?

This is the thing which I don't get about not changing a winning team. He will be forced into it anyway when Joelinton inevitably gets banned. Isn't it better to do it on your own terms and swap him out once in a while just to freshen things up, and keep the likes of Miley match sharp?
