We've basically been unable to improve the squad for multiple transfer windows, and despite an aging team on the decline he's still got us to a 2nd final in 3 years, and in the race for Europe for the third year in a row.

If people think there's some mythical manager we could go out and get who is going to do better with those restrictions then I've got some magic beans to sell you.

At the very least he deserves a chance to make some signings and kick on, there's only so much any one man can keep the wheels on the bus without additional resource

There's 0% chance he walks. He'll never get a bigger or better job than this.

If you think that owners won't move him on due to financials,Howes wages are  nothing to PIF, moving him on may recover those payments should we climb the league or indeed qualify for Europe with a replacement, there will be others when you see Liverpool pull foreign managers such as there one Slot, wasn't on my radar.

While I doubt anyone wants him to go I think it's fair to question some of what we are seeing, it's desperate stuff at times. I know he then goes on unreal runs but just looks shit right now.

I do think he needs to address our style as we don't really press often enough, invisible when other team has ball and they walk by us, lots of silly mistakes, defend too deep in our box, let teams run onto us, no dynamic movement behind their midfield and either slow as fuck and side to side or misplaced passes too often. Puts us under huge pressure.

in his interview he analysed that we've been poor technically in the last group of games and that will be the focus of the next training.

Good. I mean hes not dumb, but we got to stop shooting ourself in the foot game after game.

The weird sort of 4-4-2 he played today and the almost 4-4-1-1 at Anfield didn’t work particularly well. Felt like there was even more space between the lines playing this way.

I like that we commit players high. But for a while now. We just stick players in the opposition half and they all just sort of jog between players passing it round us with ease.

The likes of Joelinton and Gordon just doing doggies and chasing shadows. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of structure to it or the intensity that we had before.

So we end up with quite a few bodies wrong side of the ball. As they work it into dangerous areas off a few passes and find the space between our lines.

I also agree with what others are saying. If we do go full send and a bit gung ho. Teams are combating our press by going long or direct into midfielders or attackers dropping off into the middle. So perhaps Howe is just trying to find a balance and the best way to counter it.

First half we were decent. Glad to see big Joe back.

The squad has got John Carver 2014 vibes. Needs the PIF equivalent of that 2015 summer when Ashley’s NUFC was the biggest spending club in Europe. Without the impending relegation obvs

Even the squad players seem cooked. Target, Willock, Wilson for sure and Longstaff didn’t even come on.

I don’t understand how it’s that mad. We overspent, resulting in losing two prospects, and it’s still affecting us now?

is that not how it went?

Who did we "overspend" on?  Isak? Tonali? Bruno? Gordon? Hall?  Livramento? Botman?

Would you swap the contributions that any of those have made for what we might have got out of Minteh or Anderson (no disrespect to either)?

If the issues that have mentioned are down to squad depth and lack of funding should we not of moved on an asset seeing as we can't get rid of the dross to fund that issue, maybe Bruno seeing as we have  Miley and Willock sniffing around..

Miley and Willock aren’t good enough to be Bruno replacements.

Howe isn't to blame for that

Howe is partly responsible for it - he’s the manager and was part of the ‘transfer committee’ that we kept hearing about.  Learning about what funds are available and how PSR works isn’t exactly rocket science, and it directly impacts his job.  So I’m going to go with the assumption that he isn’t stupid, and made the calls he did in the transfer market knowing how that would limit him.

Barnes and Osula are only ones I can think of. Gordon was a big fee at the time but we’d easily make that back now.

Maybe Targett given his lack of minutes since we signed him permanently. £20m on that keeper from Forest too but I’ve no idea on the FFP gymnastics involved with that one.

Wood was an eye watering price but we recouped a big chunk of that.

It isn’t necessarily that we overspent on an individual player, it is that the money spent was spent by Howe on the players he chose to spend it on, and did so with few outgoings - and most of our squad players would be worth a fair bit less than they would have a year or two ago.

Howe deserves a lot of credit for the success of most of our signings - but I don’t understand how he’s able to get all the credit for transfer dealings yet somehow gets to abrogate responsibility for any issues.

Yeah but £12m for a proven LB who looked very good on loan seemed sensible to me at the time.

i dont even class Vlach transfer as a real one. The Anderson deal was dodgy as fuck PSR balancing from both clubs.
