You should be. Teams that play shite on a regular basis tend to get relegated.

I'm talking about 1 game. People actually okay with us getting humped because we played okay. And comparing it to drawing at Anfield under Pardew. I'd take that result and performance all day like.

Sorry, losing 4-1 but caveating it as our best performance at Anfield in 30 years is pure cope. We’d mock another club’s supporters for saying the same.

*No, I don’t think Eddie should be sacked*

If we'd got absolutely battered from start to finish and somehow come away with an undeserved points, you wouldn't be bothered?

I'd be absolutely chuffed to get the point. That's how we'll progress. Not being plucky fuckin losers.

It’s not a near on miracle atall. Villa are just about to do CL 2 seasons out of the 3 and had Europe then other two of the last 4. Forest weren’t that far away. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a good achievement, but we’re the biggest spenders after the ‘big 6’, with 2 or 3 of them collapsing in recent times. It’s not a miracle.

The fact two failing ones failing is a miracle of sorts isn't it ? They shouldn't have with what they can do with the stacked deck as it is, lucky for us and Villa really.

And, you say with us and Villa, breaking in is not that of a miracle. However, I and you, omitted the fact Eddie had 15 years of total contemptuous miss management to get over, something Emery I would argue didn't.

Maybe miracles is the wrong term, one hand behind his back in a prize fight might be better.

Either way, the stick Eddie is getting, some warranted and I say that as a Eddie fan, is wrong. You give the man leeway, you don't jettison him as soon as it gets tough. And, yes he has to start showing change,  improvement, whatever the term that suits. I think he will.

Time will tell, if he even gets that time.

There might be a middle ground between being plucky losers and picking up unsustainable points.

Maybe not a miracle, but it's better than being a "good" achievement like, given where we were when Howe took over. A big chunk of the money we've spent was to bolster a squad that had been neglected for years.

You name Forest but they're a great example of how difficult it is. They fell off towards the end of last season then continued that descent this season.

Villa are the only comparable club really and they were struggling at this stage last season too in the exact same circumstances as us. Their gamble in the January window helped but didn't even really pay off as they still missed out on CL despite picking up form massively.

Emery is flavour of the month, but I'd bet a decent amount they'll struggle next season too.

I still believe in Eddie. First toon manager to win a trophy in my lifetime and first toon manager to reach the Champs lge knock out round ever.

But he and the team have their work cut out this summer reshaping the squad, the quality and the balance isn't right.

Football is full of "that wasn't a x - x game" matches like, there's nothing unusual or cope about it where it applies.

Sorry but saying a 4-1 defeat is a strong performance is straight out the Bruce/Maclaren/Pardew playbook. Might as well of asked how the bacon was, said we need to roll up our sleeves and dust ourselves down for the upcoming molestation by City

What bamboozles me most is how we’ve gone from 22/23 NUFC that was rock solid at the back, difficult to play against and could cling onto points and winning positions

I’ve never been as confident about the solidity of an NUFC side as I was in that season.

These days we’re a fucking pushover. A piece of piss to score goals against and absolutely weak as piss at protecting points and winning positions.

Where’s our bad ass street brawler attitude gone ?

We’re soft as clarts.

No, it's your opposing opinion to mine. Howeh man, the whole 'fact. Simple as' thing is beneath you like.

I'll never use 'simple as' mind but I think it's a fact that a draw at Anfield can be agreed to be a better performance than a 4-1 humping. Whether it was lucky or not. Over to you 😆

That season we had experienced players all over the pitch who were also playing at their peak; Schar, Trippier, Burn in particular. The Willock/Joelinton combo was defensively rock solid. Bruno was excellent in the "6" position. Longstaff and Miggy were contributing in both directions too.

We attacked and defended as unit, rather than the way we play now which constantly puts a huge amount of distance between our defence, midfield and attack. Our wingers in particular are bombing forward relentlessly before we've even had any chance to build possession, which sometimes works but often leaves the fullback isolated when we lose the ball.

Tonali is all over the place in that DM role too, the amount of times you see him chasing their defenders and keeper down is mad. It's little wonder there's always a huge gap in front of our defence. There's basically no discipline in our midfield at all.

That's the sort of thing we've proven we can do, with lesser players too, its been required for a long time and am as baffled as you are as to how we've got to February without any signs of it, especially as were so feeble at the other end but that being more a personnel issue than something than can be rectified on the training ground youd have thought we'd work on something we can affect, would take pressure off at the other end.

If Eddie can’t get the players to play with discipline and apply a “solid at the back” approach to games, then he’s failing as a coach. He’s got good enough players to play like we did in 22/23.

But on the flip side, if he’s changed his approach away from “solid at the back” and that’s why the players are pushing forward too much and we’re a piece of piss to score against, then he’s also failing as a coach.

I’d love us to go back to the 22/23 mindset. We were formidable.

Felt like we took criticism from the likes of Klopp to heart and we’ve been an absolute soft touch ever since.

Every club shithouses, look at Villa last week. We’ve stopped it for some reason.
