You honestly think that Eddie will be remembered for winning the Carabao cup (outside Newcastle)?

Well put it this way our name will last on that trophy longer than folk will remember entertaining runners ups.

You’re wrong. All my mates (non NUFC) think he’s a god

Yeah there's more to it than trophies. Stylistically his teams were iconic and there must be value placed on the transformation from almost-3rd tier to one of the top two sides in the country. And setting the foundations for Robson and Howe after him.

These days he'd probably get plaudits for transforming us into one of the highest revenue clubs in Europe. Like Pochettino at Spurs but up another few levels, and from a far lower base.

Yeah but no one remembers Pochettino either. Or they won't in 10 years.

Folk are taking what I'm saying to heart too much. I adore Keegan. But winners are ultimately documented and remembered. Not runners up.

The entertainers are still talked about now 30 years on. In 2055 I doubt many people outside Newcastle fans will be able to instantly tell you who won the league cup in 2025

Aye and they're remembered as valiant failures.

1) It does.

That is all.

Jokes aside...

The point I am making is okay - your mates might think it but ultimately, winners are documented. Runners up aren't (as much - other hsn being the losers) If folk think winners aren't remembered then certainly runners up aren't.

I’m with Heron (on some of what he’s saying).

Runner up is 1st loser.

You can love Keegan to bits whilst also accepting that Howe winning a trophy will last longer in the record books than what Keegan was able achieve.

You know me mate. You know it's sarcastic (when I say my opinion matters more than others).

Folk just defensive cause it's Keegan. Rightly so.

I adore Keegan too but he won jack shit in terms of silver whilst winning the hearts and minds of thousands.

Judging by his post match presser tonight, he’s done and he knows it.

He will forever go down as the man who broke our trophy curse and who took us to another level, but unfortunately his course has been run.

It’s an awful stretch but I’m still persuaded by the argument that he’s a victim of his own success and a mendacious naive / disinterested ownership.

Note to self: use word mendacious when wife texts to say her Zumba class has been moved to 11pm and it’s now at her gym instructors house

Fuck man, so much love for Eddie, I pray he gets time and turns it around. No man I'd rather have leading the club than him.

Give him all the time possible, too early still imo and this coming from someone of the opinion that we've been dreadful all season and I've struggled to keep my eyes open watching the boring, tedious football served up.

Folk are blind like. When do you ever see Keegan referred to in mainstream media as the guy who effectively made modern day NUFC modern day NUFC?

The clips you always see of him on mainstream media are his arm over an asvertising board as we lose 4-3 and when he says "I would love it if we beat them" and subsequently did not win the league.

Mainstream media does not remember he took us from the doldrums and made us what we are. I don't like that either. Keegan is my hero too, but Howe will be remembered for winning a cup and breaking our baron spell before Keegan is from outside the NUFC community.

All in all - it doesn't really matter. Folk should support Howe.
