The mind baffles. Aye, we walked out with loads of people slagging him off and saying it’s time for a change. I love the bloke but, I’ll be honest, that away defeat at their place still hurts. I’m not sure how I’ll feel if we don’t turn them over at SJP. Whilst I’d not be calling for his head, it would take a lot of getting over for me. And it’s a big result for local fans. The ones he absolutely can’t afford to lose.

There’s no point consistently putting out 70% strongest teams in domestic cups. We’ll get about here and lose. Play a fair few matches but ultimately not win. We should target and deprioritise competitions imo. No starters in league cup until semis at all - we most likely don’t make it. But then really try to win the FA Cup. It’s why European teams tended to play weak teams in the LC until the later rounds - if you get there, it’s all-out to win a trophy. But you don’t throw everything at it when you’ve got a bunch of additional matches until January. I’ll never advocate playing weak teams in the FA Cup, but the League Cup should be an obvious one when you’re in Europe.

The silver lining being that no cup fixtures means we have one game per week for the first time since September so in theory we should end the season very strongly 🤞

True and was one of the man reasons I didn’t want them to come up. We can’t win in a wider sense unless it’s a battering. You’re right though, match going fans are obviously still on board. If the worst happens it’ll be interesting (if not harsh IMO) to see what happens thereafter.

Aye - 100% agree - wish the smelly cunts were still in L1 tbh.
toontownman
Has he earned another season in charge, yes. Doesn't mean he gets one though. If there was ever a perfect time to change managers it is at the end of this season. Big players likely leaving, lots out of contract and should be a decent pot to spend even before sales. We will soon see how ruthless our ownership will be. If we fail to qualify for Europe and dont get to cup final Eddie will be questioned. Lots has been against him but they backed him with signings he wanted and its been very hit and miss. The squad is deeper but we aren't looking better for it. For a manager that is hailed as someone improving players, the players arent doing enough for him right now and will be massively culpable if he gets booted. The College Dropout
^^ waffle. You want him out. And just waffling. The best time to get a rid of a manager is when the manager is a weak link in the organisation and squad. The squad needs major surgery, I want a trusted head coach through that. If we add quality to the squad and Howe underperforms - he should go. This squad however isn’t good enough overall.
Disco
I’m obviously Howe In and love the bloke but if he was peddled you’d be relying on severely unguided faith in those above him to get it right on or off the field given what we’ve seen the last couple of years. It’s a huge summer.

Having seen the club sack Dalglish, Gullit (he walked before he was pushed, granted) and Robson a few games into a season I can confirm that there are definitely good and bad times to get rid of a manager regardless
Doctor Zaius
Team selection was wank. No Joelinton, no Gordon, Osula? Not sure if that was the best side to win the game. All in on finishing 7th now and trying to go as far as we can in the CL. Even if we had got to the FA Cup Final, could only think how knackered these lot would be. r0cafella
Sad thing about the city game is we know he's a much better manager than what he showed this game. Really not sure what's going on with us.

Err, yeah but doesn't explain our continued inability to do the basics like pass to each other or make a tackle Not saying we should have won tonight but let's not pretend like this city team isn't the worst since they brought Guardiola. Ultimately we've watched a whole load of shit this season mind. And I can't say I agree with your final like either but fair play and I do respect your unwavering support. Appreciate your concern but I don't think it is for want of trying it is for lack of depth and capability. I think folks lack of consideration to the events forced upon him are somewhat ignorant and they're simply looking for the easiest solution rather than the right one. He got things wrong tonight. In my opinion. But did he...Tuesday will tell imo.
Heron
And no it isn't absolute nonsense. Who would have done more with the Isak situation and our subsequent signings - 1 in general and 2 in reality (I.e. attainable)?
