Spot on set up. Infuriating that there were so many times that we were offside, then onside but the final ball was wrong, then the final ball was good but the finish wasn't there.

Our goal was basically the only time that it all clicked, which is a shame. We're still so clearly a work in progress, we've seen it click loads of times before and I'm confident it'll happen again with more training time.

Whilst he is spot on tactically I think he should give Wissa a chance if we intended to play like this, keep on challenging the offside line the whole game.

and also feel sorry for him, should be a historical win, ruined by Thiaw the last moment.

Wissa doesn’t deserve a chance currently.

Howe in charge of Barcelona would be scary. We've got, at best, half their talent but we're going punch for punch with them and it's not a one-off fluke.

A complete lack of goal threat is a massive issue and needs sorting as a priority in the summer.

Osula did well to break the line but he can do nothing more than that. Yea ok Nick is not that type of ST but how about Wissa?

I mean in the end you still gotta find a way out to use a 55m striker. Thats the game he should thrive like Elanga.

No complaints whatsoever.

I just hope he can rest some players in the league next game as I know that while it's incredibly important to win games in the league, we need to go all out in the Barca away fixture, it could be an historic night in the club's history.

Sometimes you just have to think of the bigger picture.

Got it absolutely bang-on.  I also think it takes real bollocks to drop Woltemade and Wissa for this game - it’s an admission that they haven’t been right.

I’m willing to bet his reaction to not being professional at the end and running the ball to the corner was the same as the rest of us.

Disagree, to be honest. Wissa would never have pressed as much as Osula did for 60 minutes. That kept Barca at arms length and under pressure for long periods. I think he got that decision spot on.

I would have bought Wissa on instead of Gordon though or bought him on for Barnes after the goal and put Gordon on the wing. That said it probably wouldn’t have made any difference as we were all over the shop trying to hang on.

He got it right again tonight but this is vintage Howe, at home against a good side who will attack us. These games have never been his issue. His issue will be the mackems, Bournemouth, Brighton and West Ham at home.

We can’t really afford to throw the Chelsea game at the weekend, win that and we’re 6 behind them and won’t be far off Brentford in 7th. We desperately need European football and anything other than that will be a disaster.

Got it absolutely bang on the money, yet the pattern of the season remains:

Play shit? Get beat every time, literally never come out thinking "we were crap there but got away with something".

Play really well? Sometimes win, always get an absolute cunt of a referee to level it off and fairly often don't get what we deserve.

Another one of those weird results where you'd be elated with it on paper and yet feel miffed because we've conceded late. Had a fair few of those this season.

Very proud of the club tonight, however - players, staff and fans all did themselves proud. We're not out of this tie yet and if we can put in another performance like tonight it's absolutely all to play for.

Finally - that little cunt Yamal, hope he breaks both his scrawny legs. A cheat, much like the referee who'd clearly been told not to book him as it would deny the viewing public being able to watch him throw himself to the floor and foul Lewis Hall constantly at the Nou Camp next week.

Always love hearing him speak after a game.

The balanced way he can assess a match after conceding a crushing late goal is amazing when you think about it. No matter what happens he can see the bigger picture, not be overly influenced by the result, take every question and give a really balanced answer.

No wonder the players will run through walls for him.

He looked sick after the penalty was given.

This is my utopian version of N-O.

Protect this man! he is our fergie/Wenger rolled in to one, If we had the players he wanted last season this would of been a different story. If we lose Eddie and he ends up going to a team thats allowed to spend i'm done noone could do what he has done or put up with in 5 years Remember he had pneumonia last season,? This man is a fucking saint who improves players

Must have been very frustrating. Plan was spot on but he can't play the final ball or apply the finish himself. Even if one of those marginal offside runs had been timed a little better we could have been 2-0 up.

He's been excellent in the CL tactically this season. He's 1 or 2 missed chances in the league stage game against Barca and a Nick Pope brainfart at Marseille away from being unbeaten in it this season.

Irritating thing is is if we had an Isak or Ekitike up front I'd back us to get to the final. Fucking cunts.

I do wonder whether the club or the scouts have identified the next Isak. I hope they did, or else what are they doing since last summer?

Hope this guy gets a biblical summer out of the  club. All business done early, zero drama, and we’ll be a very scary prospect next season.

Us have a calm / sensible / productive pre season

He is simply our most successful manager of the modern era. Ergo the best manager of the modern era. Possibly of all time.

The ‘he didn’t get the players he wanted’ line is absolutely baffling to me.  I bet he’d want Mbappe if he could sign him as well - it doesn’t excuse spunking a massive sum on dross.
