There are many questionable elements to people's reasoning for why Howe is shit imo.

The main thing of credence is the formation/strategy and some of his players selection/substitutes. Beyond that I think folk speculatively generate reasons to degrade him to suit their preference.

No one wants to think Howe is shit though. Results are always what defines a manager at the end of the day. If you can't get them, then some good football would be a mitigating factor. When you've got neither, you're not left with much. When it goes on over a whole season then questions are going to be asked, it would happen anywhere doesn't matter what field of work.

Or much more simply, it's harder to get deals done with no CEO or DoF. When we did, we had no problem attracting players.

We did sign Trippier, Bruno, Isak, Tonali, Botman, Gordon, Woltemade who were all at, strongly linked with, or bid for by Champions League regulars, but apart from that you have a point aye.

They didn't sign because Eddie Howe was our manager - they signed for the 'project' - which has crashed and burned, which is why the players are now leaving a sinking ship.  Woltemade was a panic buy after every striker we went for turned us down.

They signed for all of it, including Howe.

Tripps is the 'only' one you could say Eddie Howe's rep played an influence in them signing.

Absolutely no influence at all? It wasn't even a consideration? Who the manager is just doesn't cross the mind of a player making a move?

Nothing but your own confirmation bias. There's literally no evidence for any of what you're saying.

Embarrassing this thread , I can't wait for Eddie to go to a team who can freely spend and teach you all a lesson. fucked it with Keegan and Sir Bobby but we only  want a team that try's is  utter bollocks

Well what does that tell you?

The thing about him not giving young players a chance has always been horseshit. If they're good enough to play and he's trusted them to enact his tactical gameplan, they've played.

Bollocks, it tells me he played a raw young forward up front, because he wasted a fucking fortune in the summer on one and he doesn’t know how to utilise the other one.

I reckon each of those would sign for the current Newcastle, and they didn't sign to win the champions League.

Can understand if most of them saw us as a stepping stone when they signed, rather than thinking they were signing for the next man city.

Can see many of them now seeing it's time for the next step too.

Staveley and Ghodoussi were CEOs and we brought in someone whose name escapes me to support with signing players.

Who said we only want a team that tries? Some person puts it on a banner, posts it on a forum, doesn’t make it the general consensus. The PIF takeover changed ambitions.

In saying that I don’t think Howes a bad manager but things run their course. It happens to the very best managers, even the likes of Ancelloti and Mourinho at their peak have lost their jobs.

I never said that - I am saying Eddie Howe wasn't what attracted the like of Bruno, Isak, Tonali - it was the project they were sold.  It's no coincidence now they see that the project has stalled these players are starting to look elsewhere.

That wouldn't prove anything. He'd have to go to a similar sized club with similar finances and do better.

You don't know what you're talking about with either Keegan or Sir Bobby's departures tbf. One had nothing to do with the fans and the other scarcely anything.

Sir Bobby was sacked 5month (no wins and a player revolt) after the boos at the end of the Wolves game.

 Get a hold of yourself man. It's for the most part been a dissapointing season, but its merely a little setback.

There's a lot of people who should think carefully what the phrase "we only want a team that tries" actually means. To many it just sounds good, but in reality they mean they want a team that wins, because if you're not winning, you're not trying. If you spend a lot of money on players that turns out not to be as good as hoped you're not trying. If you got tactically outdone by another team, you just didn't try enough. Basically, we just want a team that wins. Not too much to ask is it?

This is the way I see things at the moment.

When the takeover first happened we had a project to sell players and money to burn because of Ashley’s stinginess. And no-one had really appreciated that clubs really were going to be hit by the FFP rules. All this helped sell the club.

By this summer all of this had changed making it much harder to persuade players to come and also we knew we had to be more careful with wages. I don’t think the fact Howe was the manager rather than a “bigger name” would make any difference.

The reality is, with all the financial rules in place, the “project” (of being number one) is basically an impossibility for the foreseeable future. We can’t compete financially with the top clubs and we can’t over-perform for ever as this season has shown.

So we need a new project with a new transfer strategy (as mentioned) and we need to continue to boost our income and we need to increase our global fanbase to make us more valuable to sponsors and the media who continue to control the game more and more. Ideally we could do with  finding ourselves our own Son from a country which loves British football.

And Howe was part of the project they bought into. A large, impossible to ignore, vital part of it in fact
