If this is what we're in the midst of I think it would be a lot easier for people to accept if we were playing a different formation.

Not saying Eddie should do that to be clear, but as evidenced by many of the recent posts it's very hard to watch what looks like a worse version of the same thing.

Also it needs to look like his players are buying into it. They just look confused and unmotivated at the moment.

I was listening to his press conference earlier and it just struck me how rhymical the press conferences have been this season.

1 week - high, good performance, result

Next week - poor performance, not a good result, we have a chance to right a few wrongs midweek

Week after - high, good performance, result

Next week - poor performance, not a good result, we have a chance to right a few wrongs midweek

Week after - high, good performance, result

Literally has such a rise and repeat feel to it unfortunately.

I also got the impression he wasn't overly happy with some of Bruno's reaction, the 'mess' part in particular.

Since Nov/Dec 2023, we've been very inconsistent. . . .

Although we won our first trophy in decades and qualified for CL again last season, . . .

Yes, if only we'd been more consistent maybe we'd have won several trophies and come top of the PL. ;)

Suspect you haven't been following this crazy club for long!

In theory that means we win 50% of our games.

At the end of the day every manager is fighting for their jobs on a consistent basis, Howe is no different and his sound bytes will reflect that degree of self preservation.

Don’t think Bruno will be happy though. He didn’t overreact with those comments.

One thing I find selective about these 'look at the bigger picture' posts is that in practice it essentially means look beyond whatever game we've just had but not beyond when our poor performances started, or beyond our run of poor away results, or beyond Howe being in charge of transfers in the summer.

not only that but they keep pushing this weird myth that we've been terrible for most of the calendar year.

The reaction to the derby loss and performance is roughly equivalent to a run of 5 losses imo, which is to be expected I suppose. I swear a lot of the same people up in arms now were the same people who gobbled it up and had no ambition to do better than the derbies Pardew served up though.

I have no idea what you're prattling about tbh. Whatever reason Mitchell had for walking away, it's good for us because he was absolutely shite and I said as much about 3 weeks after he joined.
