I really hope Amanda's tenure ending doesn't have a negative effect on the lasses. The relationship, with both the men's and especially the lasses, was unique in football. She is very tactile and has personal relationships with the staff and players and was very open and loved a hug and kiss when the game was over, win lose or draw. With the Kingston park crowd she regularly held impromptu meet and greets and it created something no other clubs can match. This can't be replicated as it's real, personality based and natural. It's what makes us different and as many have said, she just got us.

I'm sure the lasses will continue to be backed and Becky and Sue will still drive us forward but a part of what made us so special is no longer going to be there. I'm sure we are going to be competitive yet again and I wouldn't be surprised if we continue as we have and win the league again but it's going to be difficult to maintain the personal investment from the board without Amanda's involvement. A professional corporate management appear to be the wish of the majority but for me the close, hands on approach is what made supporting the lasses so special.

Roll on the next signing and winning the championship

I think we'll be just fine...

I really really hope so, and im sure we'll all enjoy the ride! But realistically not one of our players would slot into a WSL team, including the new signings!

Demi stokes is a high profile signing but she's barely played in the last couple of years!

Would love it if we could get a few in with great potential, but I'm sure that will come eventually!

She any good? Just Googled her and seen she's 36.

Probably her last season, so I'm delighted for her that she's got the chance to come home and play for us, she's a huge newcastle fan!!

I've seen her play live quite a lot, and at times she's looked brilliant, often head and shoulders above her teammates!!

Obviously at 36 she's not going to be revolutionary as her best years are behind her, but her experience will be amazing!!

And she's an absolutely mint person too!!

Really solid experienced addition this. Love it.

Hopefully we should have enough to consolidate, avoid relegation and continue building. Another promotion seems unlikely given the competition at this level but we are on a roll.

Sunderland could have won the Championship last season right up until the penultimate game when the blew it.

They were Top for half of the season

Newcastle current squad on par with Sunderland / maybe slightly better.

Newcastle will be up near the top.

Might not win it but nowhere near relegation and will do much better than ‘consolidate’ in my opinion.

I would imagine there are still a couple to come in also with the amount of players released?

Used to play for us from 2006 - 2010. I didn't even know the women's team existed in any form until Amanda started treating it like her baby.

I've written this before, but a while ago. They used to be totally independent of NUFC and once wanted to play in the black & white strip, so had approached the club. This was not unreasonable as woman's football was beginning to develop in other areas of the country. I coached in Manchester and Manchester United would hold competitions so they could scout the best girls / women. They did a lot of community stuff, which was only screwed by the Glazers takeover, when they shuttered all the comunity stuff to save money (Remind you of someone?) That's why City became big (by poaching all the area's tallent) and Manchester United women had to beg to be let in the WSL. Anyway, NUFC put one of the Feddies (my memory tells me it was Fletcher) on Metro Radio to reply. He basically spent the whole time laughing at the idea of women playing football. The fat bastard was just as bad. That's why you didn't know they existed prior to Amanda.

Used to have to buy their own strips did they not?

Trying to place a bet on them to win the league, but Ladbrokes don’t have a market for it.

Still trying to put this bet on.

Devastated to hear of this news. Colin had a lot of time, and advice, to share with me at a time when I was a much less experienced photographer. Have shared the pitchside with him several times over the years. Someone who has given more back to the game, than he took. Will be sadly missed by all.
