Kieran Trippier: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)

I do like how people started touting we should sell him because someone spotted him at the airport.

Come on now, it's not only that, it's also that 3 or 4 week bad spell he had.

Yes he's arguably one of our greatest ever signings, and hadn't put a foot wrong before that bad spell which wasn't as bad as people made out to be, with him subsequently recovering and playing at the high standard he has for the past two years, however in comparison, Frimpong is now a Bundesliga winner.

With a fully fit squad we would be at the bare minimum, clear in 4th. If ffp/PSR is really an issue I would rather have a financial reset and clear out the Dummetts, Ritchie's, Targetts, Dubravkas who are a level below and replace them with out of contract players and keep the core of the squad for next season without spending a fortune. Surely next season can't be as bad injury wise. The thought of selling Trippier is in my mind ridiculous. With a front 6 of Bruno, Tonali, joelinton, Gordon, isak and Barnes leaves great cover and the best front six in the league in my opinion. That would mean adequate defensive cover and a younger keeper required. We don't need major spending

We don't necessarily need to target out of contract players, because they can demand more on wages, what we need to do is be brave in the market at 18/20yrs level, we need more signings like Minteh at 6m and get them at the right loan club, then let them break into our first team squad slowly, lots of sides have demonstrated that this season, and although Ten Hag is a whopper, he's done well blooding youth, Klopp is similar, he tests his talent, we've never been brave, other than Carroll, we were sort of forced, but it did work out.

Those cloggers you mention, need to be replaced by young talent. Safer future bet and helps our ffp

Don't mind him being here next season, but I have a feeling that next season we are going to start questioning whether it was right to keep him for another season or not. I hope I can look back at this and say that I was wrong. However, if he doesn't play anywhere near the levels that he used to, or can't keep up with our playstyle in terms of injuries and/or fatigue, it won't be hindsight to point out that we could've sold him (I'm sure the hindisght argument would be used). At the same time, we would need another RB if we sold him, so it's definelty not clearcut.

We'd not get a great amount for Trippier anyway. Worth keeping around to see out his career here I think. He has the underlying quality even if we'll need to start managing his minutes.

I imagine your garden fence is quite worn down.

With Lascelles being out alot of next season, Wilson potentially going, Ritchie maybe off, Dubravka almost certainly is, even Dummett might be gone, if Trippier also leaves that's a big chunk of our leadership team and senior players out of the picture.

He needs to stay, he's still at PL level and hopefully this extra rest and rehab will set him up well for next season. The only reason I'd want him gone is if there's substantial bid that is impossible to turn down(£15M+).

Honestly I don't understand what you mean by that.[emoji38] Never heard that saying before.

Was just a very "sitting on the fence" post

Happy for him to be here,  unless he's poor, which he might be, but he also may not. If he is, then it's okay to say that he might have been, unless he isn't.

My reply was probably too abstract, apologies, just enjoyed your post haha.

Well, I did actually say that I don't believe he will be anywhere near the same as he used to, so that's my actual opinion. But I would love for me to be wrong, and would be the first to admit it.;) In the end we all want the same thing, whatever works best for the team.
