Bimpy474 Posted yesterday at 09:48 Share Posted yesterday at 09:48 Zero empathy, zero forgiveness, zero understanding. Nope, let's just jump to the worst conclusion and castigated him with extreme prejudice (good film that) from some.

JEToon Posted yesterday at 09:53 Share Posted yesterday at 09:53 You have to be a good and proper weirdo to take photos of a player sitting in a bar. People on here are probably judging these players to a more intense level than they are judged internally, it's not entirely out the question they are given a day off during rehab etc for the sake of their mental health, the only person Trippier or any other player has to answer to is their manager. I was born in the 90s myself, so I don't know much about how it was back then. But today that is highly unusual for players on the top level. That's one of the main reasons why players last longer today. Edited yesterday at 10:04 by Erikse

You're right, if it was every weekend he was on the lash getting blotto then I'd be aggrevated. But if he's done it as a one-off whilst in the middle of a divorce and not being able to play football then I don't see how anyone can hold it against him. He's still got plenty to offer on the pitch. If he's still here in 3-4 years time doing Ciaran Clark, Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden then aye we've hung onto him for too long. I think most if not all recognized the circumstances around it. And I agree that we shouldn't chase him out of town when he is in that situation. I just don't see the problem with calling the act itself unprofessional. Edited yesterday at 10:19 by Erikse

I don't know the circumstances around it, you don't you are saying it is unprofessional for a player to have a night out, what if they were given permission to do it? You also don't actually have evidence of what he actually done other than sit outside a bar Edited yesterday at 10:29 by JEToon
GavMcEl Posted yesterday at 10:28 Share Posted yesterday at 10:28 Since the minute we qualified for the CL in 2023 he went off the boil a bit didn't he, going on benders etc... and wasn't that around the time that his suppose cheating happened ? And its obviously affected him, as he went from being one of the best full backs in Europe (imo) to putting in some very questionable performances, I can think of 2 games just off the top of my head last season where he cost us matches, I'm sure there's a lot more examples.... end of the day his signing for me was the most important in the 25 years or so that I've been Following the club... the fact that he was willing to leave one of the top sides in Europe to join us in the position we where in was the 1st indication that we were serious.... and his performances from Jan 22 to May 23 were outstanding.... I know a lot if not all of this was brought on himself, but at the end of the day, the man's marriage is Breaking down and he's loosing his family... doesn't matter if he's a minted footballer or not, he's still a human being, the club should show support and solidarity 100%

You think he was given permission to get blotto and be chucking up in the bogs? Not castigating the lad, he's given loads to us and is clearly in a tough place but to assume this was (if it's as reported) something he sought permission to do and was within agreed bounds of behaviour is a bit of a bold suggestion as I think we all know Howe well enough to imagine what the response to that request would be. If it were under Bruce, well I'd imagine ol' bacon face would be holding the toilet seat up for him and then buying him another pint.

I would say from what is known of Howe that he cares for the person and likely would give players a pass on occasion. Big Geordie Posted yesterday at 10:37 Share Posted yesterday at 10:37 'If' his wife has denied him access to his kids, because of him arseing around - then it's understandable if he's going through a tough time. My daughter was weaponized against me, when I left my ex - indeed, she still is at 16. It's really hard to go through, as a dad.
alexf Posted yesterday at 10:39 Share Posted yesterday at 10:39 Don't care about what he does in his private life really but his performances for a good year or so now have been poor. He always looks a liability to me now which is so sad when he used to set the standard and barely put a foot wrong. Whether it's decline physically due to age, off field issues or a combination of both. Whatever the cause, it's resulted in a player currently not of the standard required. I dont know that is what happened either, but this is a discussion forum, not a court of law, so the burden of proof is somewhat lower on what we can talk about. This feels like a fair talking point. Nobody is saying anything definitely happened but we're discussing reports, and from what I can see most if not all of us are caveating what we've said with "if he's done this". I think 90% of posters are being pretty reasonable and fair. As for Howe giving a pass, if so that's likely an after the event pass. I can't for one moment see him OKing someone getting smashed in public before the event.
