Yeah but so do all the teams against us, apparently on here

Thought it was madness how Sunderland gave full control of the match to Coventry at home. Coventry are a big team and they had 45 crosses (!), were bound to score eventually. It's pretty rare that we have a performance like that.

If we were still under the ownership of Mike Ashley and/or being managed by Steve Bruce I'd actually be gutted at the prospect of them getting promoted

Whereas knowing the level we are operating at results like this for me are met with a shrug of the shoulders

I look at whatever outcome in the final as a win win. They lose at "Wembo" and it will be funny, they get promoted and it will be funny watching them lose most weeks

I can never want them to get promoted but there is a part of me that wants them to face the weekly realisation that their suggestion "we'd give PSG a game" or "the standard of the PL outside 2nd* is shite" is a load of bollocks

*this number changes based on our league position

All this guaranteed 6 points is nonsense like and exactly why I don't want them up.

It's not guaranteed at all and anything could happen - Luton beat us last season, Ipswich beat chelsea this season, Southampton drew with City etc  there's a chance, and us not beating them would be horrible.

Obviously I want Sheff Utd to win. But you're naive to think Mackems don't have a chance. If they win, they deserve it and I will greatly enjoy taking 6 points off them next season.

One off game, sides alway have a chance. But Sheff Utd have far too much quality if Sunderland play the same again we’ve seen across two legs.

Sheff Utd will take their chances, then off the bench, got far more quality than Sunderland / Coventry. The prem money will be on show and it won’t be a shock.

Genuinely feel nothing to them going up or staying down. We’re on another planet to them and will be for the forseeable.

Sure, the may beat us in a one off game, but it will mean next to nowt in the grand scheme of things.

Agree.

Thought it was suicidal tactics. Take the game by the scruff of the neck, get the crowd up and they'd potentially have had it sewn up by halftime. Allowed Cov to get a foothold and in turn to dominate the 2nd half. Didn't watch extra time so can't comment on that tbf.

I have zero confidence in Sheff United beating them , as limited as the mackems are they are clearly well organised and will just sit in and make it as tough as possible for them to score . The mackems have already beaten them this season as well.

A derby game now for us is a no win situation really . We are so much better than them that even if we win it's basically just job done but if we did only draw or got beat we would never hear the end of it.

There's a bit of my "ordinary" class solidarity with anyone and anything from the true North.

Anything above Manchester that has been overlooked and disregarded.

As such, and I did post about it once 😂, I'd have been ok with Leeds, Boro and these lot coming up. Obviously my inherent hatred of Sunderland means that I have to find a way to navigate past those conflicting emotions.

If they come up, so be it. You know they'll build themselves up to be world beaters then, as the season unfolds, reality will bite them in the arse. So what if we drop points to them? We've spunked points to worse teams, tbf 😉

Our, ultimate, trajectory won't be impacted by them but will cast a giant shadow over their entire existence.

Let them have their Wembo day out. Looking back at the Carabao Cup when Isak's goal was disallowed then he scored again moments later? That was such a sucker punch for Liverpool. One minute they've dodged a bullet and are boosted by the cancelled goal. Very next minute they're in the mud.

Them getting beat in the "final" will be even more crushing.

It's all very entertaining 😂😂

The emotional outbursts at the end there was understandable, but way over the top for winning the semi final.

They have some time to reset before the final, but I think they lose that. Even if they get promoted, they will have a season in the prem on par with Southampton this year.

Disagree, they’ve won a trip to Wembley and a chance of promotion with the last kick of the game.

There’s some bad takes about celebrating wins sometimes. But you can’t police someone last minute winning in a semi final at home to potentially get promoted as much as they should have lost

I might have worded myself poorly. I did say it was perfectly understandable, and there was nothing wrong with it, but I'm unsure if they can reset and be emotionally right for the playoff final.

English is not my first language, so my apologies. I didn't mean there was anything wrong with the celebrations.

I was just thinking that it might take the air out of the balloon, or it could of course give them a huge lift. I guess we'll see next week.

Watching the footage of the attendees last night I couldn't help asking, out loud, "how tf can so many people from barely 9 miles down the road look so fucking ill?"

"breeding" came her retort

We're supposed to be woke as well, shameful.

I get what you're saying but these lot are great at "resetting"

They'll already be promoted now in some of their minds.

I get people saying they're not arsed if they come up but I can't imagine any of their bigger names sticking around too long if they don't make it this season. Some random French Ligue 1 club will be in for Le Piss surely.

It would to them though. We'd never hear the end of it. It would go down as their most famous ever victory against us given the chasm between the 2 clubs. Plus if they go up there's a chance they coukd get bought by someone who doesn't need to use his parents pocket money to run them.
