And no, we didn’t.

I’m married to an EU citizen, and would never vote Reform, I know a lot of Sunderland fans who wouldn’t either. I’d say a lot were indifferent in fact.

Been here before. Plenty of you are decent, open-minded people, I know quite a few.

Sunderland is synonymous with racism, though, and only people from Sunderland are to blame for that (not all of them).

A massive lads fan I barely know and rarely communicate with at all sent me a picture of his passport yesterday.

Imagine your team exceeding all your expectations and you celebrate by messaging mags you barely know.

My nanna was a pure bred makem from Monkwearmouth, I’ll be forever grateful that she managed to drag herself out of the primordial soup and escape to Gateshead.

I know loads of Sunderland fans. My BiL is one unfortunately. Not one has messaged me anything. Because they know they're Sunderland and it all could implode at any point.

Not been my experience like. In fact, I reckon I've heard more about football from my Sunderland supporting mates over the last 4 or 5 months than I had in the previous decade combined.

they'll win the europa league.

Fairly unlikely I think. Probably around quarter finals.

We’ll likely struggle next season in the league too but I don’t give a fuck.

We aren’t in a position like you and Chelsea etc where we can say ‘oh, let’s not qualify this year because we’ll have more of a go next year.’

This was an opportunity for us and we fucking well took it.

They’ve done amazing but will find that the journey is better than the destination - similar to us. Maintaining everything is impossible. But fair fucks, they’ve got everything almost perfectly right since promotion

Considering your fans were saying you would give PSG, Dortmund etc a game when you were in the championship, surely you consider yourselves nailed on favourites for the EL?

Jokes aside, you must be buzzing with the way the season has gone?

You still stink of piss and dog farts, though. Don't ever forget that.

I was never one of those. Couldn’t believe there were some Sunderland fans seriously suggesting it too. AC Milan are in Europa league, so now you may well see a fair few mackems in Milan…

This season has been class. Totally unexpected and Le Bris should be manager of the season (it’ll go to Arteta though).

And you stink of steak bakes and won’t be using your airport for a year. So we’ll just move on from that name calling. [emoji38]

Yes you did.

Probably another one of the . “I’m not racist, my dog’s black”

I see also see the racist sc*m on RTG banished the thread about this forum, to their clan area, because Keith (the ex admin, who was fired for being a racist vile c*nt, but still allowed to post on the forum, which says everything about them) was mentioned.

here’s a thought. Maybe if every other post on RTG, Did not have racist intent, then you wouldn’t have to go hide multiple threads per hour in the shadows.

Our entire fanbase didn’t vote Brexit. Funny that you mention RTG, have a look at the Politics forum if you’re interested. The overwhelming majority on there (those engaged with politics anyway) are actually quite left leaning.

We all have our whoppers, yeah granted some areas might have more than that. You’re genuinely going to make the claim an entire fanbase is racist you’re going to have to back it up though.

Reform has nearly a third of the seats on Newcastle City Council. Can I now make the claim that a third of your fanbase is racist?

Some of the stuff I've seen on Facebook 😅 you'd think they were the first team out of the pair of us to qualify for Europe ever.

Have they started stating they're going to fly from Teesside or Leeds Bradford yet?

I have had two of them text me with pictures of their passports saying I won't need mine. I'm literally sitting in Tenerife the thick twats.

Also watched our game in a bar with every match on. You had to face the opposite way to see them, 20 of them talking constantly about us all fucking game. I was having a piss and heard them cheer, came out to find it was Fulham not them scoring. Not one of them noticed their first goal cos they were watching us. Sad as fuck. Credit to the gobby woman who told the entire bar she's never missed a home game in 20 years though, while paying more attention to us in Spain.....

It's a gigantic moment for them, to be fair.

They were in League One just a few years back. Even if they were to get spanked in every Europa League game, the combination of trips away and the chance of playing someone decent is enough to get anyone in their shoes giddy. I don't think they'll go down next year either. They've got too much character and just enough quality. If they're going down it'll be once Granit Xhaka and two or three like him leave.

I wanted to say it's akin to us getting Champions League, but we'd been there before. This is all new ground for them.

Some of my best mates are unfortunate. I'm absolutely over the moon for them. Ones 21 and goes to 30+ a season. Something a lot of our younguns will never do. Another was 2 their last time and he was so emotional on the phone. You have to take the rancid Brexit, rtg freaks out and realise it's fucking huge for the decent ones. That said fuck them all, wish they never came up bastards ha

Aye, I'm kind of where you are. I'm not over the moon for them like [emoji38] just maybe a nod of the tiniest bit of appreciation. But aye, fuck them all and I'm  absolutely dreading the derbies next season.

That's exactly it.

A good portion of RTG is performative older fans who are trying to outdo each other. Whether it's family or friends, I know a good amount of Sunderland fans and this is going to be massive for them. Football is a swings and roundabouts game at the best of times. Last year we got Champions League and a trophy lift. If Europa League feels the same to them I'm fine with that.
