Both Dundee clubs have made the semis of the European Cup

I knew there was loads and then got diddle by a wiki page that said 4. Should have had more faith in my convictions. If that's the correct term 😂

St. Mirran, Inverness Caledonian etc etc.

Turns out SAFC would struggle in the Scottish pyramid 😉

Auxerre, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Nantes, Nancy as well as the usual, Lyon PSG and Marseille

4 Scottish Clubs have won European Trophies.  Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Dundee United.

21 different clubs have represented Scotland in European competitions, which is quite a high percentage given there is only 42 clubs across the top leagues set up (albeit a lot of them are only part time/semi-pro)

You surprise me with Dundee Utd. Didn't realise they'd actually won anything in Europe. Can remember them going very close. Seen them lose the 87 Scottish cup final to St Mirren...up the saints! Then think they lost a European final a few days later. Had they beaten Barcelona in the semis?

They beat Barca in the QF.  You're right though - Dundee Utd hasn't won a European trophy.

Ha brainfart and was rewriting history there!  Completely messed up the Goteberg UEFA Cup final result, dunno what I was thinking!

Just seen the Lewis Smelly sending off on MotD. Why the fuck did the ref need VAR intervene? it was as blatant a goalscoring opportunity as I've seen.

Toon away to Vålerenga was a decent trip, if a tad expensive 😂

After the match I was staggering back to the hotel with my hands in my pockets (schoolboy error) and went arse over tit on the ice. Smashed my bracket in 😭😂😂😂

Also left my coat in the bar with my passport in. Luckily Dave Dodds spotted it and brought it back with him

Spain have had 9 clubs play in Europe (I think), Italy not many more. England must be streets ahead in number of European representatives.

Even though the numbers in your post weren't correct, the implication that England was streets ahead of the rest when it came to the number of different teams that have competed in Europe wasn't wrong:

🇪🇸 (14): Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, Espanyol, Alavés, Real Zaragoza, Mallorca, Celta Vigo, Málaga & Deportivo La Coruna

🇮🇹 (25): AC Milan, Fiorentina, Juventus, Inter, Bologna, Cagliari, Lazio, Torino, Roma, Hellas Verona, Napoli, Sampdoria, Parma, Udinese, Chievo, Atalanta, Cesena, Vicenza, Perugia, Genoa, Palermo, Livorno, Empoli, Sassuolo & Brescia

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (40): Man Utd, Wolves, Burnley, Tottenham, Ipswich, Everton, Liverpool, Man City, Leeds, Arsenal, Derby, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle, Chelsea, Leicester, Southampton, Stoke, QPR, West Bromwich, Watford, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, West Ham, Fulham, Millwall, Middlesbrough, Bolton, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Wigan, Hull, Burnley, Brighton, Sunderland, Coventry, Wimbledon, Crystal Palace & Bradford

Always had a little soft spot for Rayo, that's why I remembered.

Found what might be a better site for this information: https://kassiesa.net/uefa/clubs/

30 Spanish teams have played in Europe according to that. 24 Italian clubs, and 38 English – equalling Germany who's also listed with 38 teams.

According to that site's lists, Romania is the #1 country when it comes to the amount of teams to have competed in Europe with its 41.

Germany added in that way is a bit cheeky - it was two separate countries, so had more European slots available for more sides for quite some time as a result of them acting the cunt in the mid-C20th.

Used to work with a big Dundee Utd fan who delightes in telling me they have played Barcelona 4 times in Europe (2 z 2 legges ties) and have a 100% record across those 4 games.

I wonder if in Italys case, don't know as much about Spain, if this is due to being dominated by mainly 3 teams (Juve and both Milan's) since the days of Pro Vercelli, Genoa and Bologna winning things before European competition.  Even a big side like Roma have only won the league 3 times I believe ditto Napoli and Lazio is only 2.  Fiorentina were in one of the early European finals for winning the league but don't think they have since the 50's.  Samp only ever won it once etc.

St Johnstone definitely have cos they won the Cup double a few years ago. St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Dundee have as well. Also Dunfermline, and Raith Rovers famously went 1-0 up against Bayern so there's another one. Could well be a few more.
