Yeah, he played with a couple of players in 1895 who made debuts in 1893 (our first ever FA Cup match in January 1893, Willie Graham & Bill Thompson). Just seeing if there's anyone who'd been there from the start.

Willie Graham & Bill Thompson played in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough in January 1893 which is down as our first ever competitive match.

Another fun afternoon Chez Nut.

I'm thinking to tie it up though, I need someone from the Wolves game to link to Dummett until he plays again if we're going from our first ever match up until today...it's annoying me. He literally can do fuck all right. I do something to keep my mind occupied and I end up more annoyed than when I started.

But if I'm playing the game properly then it'll have to be the longest serving player who played last week and start the timeline from there, which is going to change the timeline. Dummett, man.

Whoever has went through that 11v11.com website and updated every single Newcastle team is incredible, like. It gets to a certain point and a lot of club's selections are blank where someone hasn't been arsed to go that far back, but ours is accurate from the first ever match to modern day.

Probably club historian Paul Joannou, I was getting my info from his book.

Or the information has been copied/stolen from his book...

I have my suspicions that it might be you.

If I take out the self-inflicted rule that a player who’s left and come back doesn’t count, and count existing players who’ve played in the first team, this reduces even further to:

PAUL DUMMETT (PRESENT DAY)

Paul Dummett & Shola Ameobi : January 2013 (Brighton away)

Shola Ameobi & Robert Lee : January 2001 (Leeds away)

Robert Lee & Peter Beardsley : September 1993 (Swindon away)

Peter Beardsley & Terry McDermott : September 1983 (Barnsley away)

Terry McDermott & Bob Moncur : March 1973 (Chelsea home)

Bob Moncur & Bill McKinney : March 1963 (Luton away)

Bill McKinney & Bobby Mitchell : December 1957 (Spurs away)

Bobby Mitchell & Jackie Milburn/Bobby Cowell : March 1947 (Sunderland home)

Jackie Milburn/Bobby Cowell & Albert Stubbins : January 1946 (Barnsley home)

Albert Stubbins & Dave Fairhurst : May 1938 (Luton away)

Dave Fairhurst & Tom McDonald : April 1929 (Derby away)

Tom McDonald & Jimmy Lawrence : March 1921 (Middlesbrough away)

Jimmy Lawrence & Andy Aitken : October 1904 (Man City home)

Andy Aitken & Willie Graham/Bill Thompson :  September 1895 (Loughborough home)

WILLIE GRAHAM & BILL THOMPSON : JANUARY 1893 (MIDDLESBROUGH HOME)

I don’t like that though, I prefer the ‘passing the torch’ one.

Why does the Dummett/shola/ Lee combination not work with the conditions?

Dummett hasn’t played for 10 months. If I’m going from the most recent team to the first ever team, I shouldn’t really include him.

Looks like Lascelles would further complicate things today if he doesn’t play as the top end of the line would jump to Darlow/Coloccini, Williamson or Taylor/Ameobi rather than Lascelles/Krul/Ameobi (Darlow & Krul have obviously never been on the pitch together).

Once Dummett makes an appearance it’ll go back to Dummett > Ameobi.

Aye that was the alternative one but I didn’t like it because there’d be a time someone in the chain from 1893 to today wouldn’t have been at the club, whereas in the one with Lascelles all the way back, at least one of everyone on that list was in the team.
