For the bigger man he gets down to the low shots better than Ramsdale, his anticipation/ reaction is sharper

I think someone else said it before, the goal we conceded yesterday is the sort people say, "Pope would have saved that" every time Ramsdale conceded.

i'm not surprised they say it when you look at the Chelsea free kick and the Man U one. Ramsdale has a hesitancy in his make up that costs him. We know what Pope's weaknesses are. Most agree we need a new No1 but I've no idea who that is

he was costing us points a lot before his injury so hopefully the break he's had will do him good

don't think he was anything special last night,  a couple of standard saves

agree he got lucky a couple of times and Ramsdale would've been slated for the goal conceded

Ramsdale wasn't really making the standard saves though.

To me, his performances overall so far this season deserve about a 6/10. Made some costly mistakes, but also some great saves. It probably won't be easy to find a clear upgrade who has similar core GK attributes and is also good with his feet.

Most effective when he has very little to do

Not going to take anything away from home, I didn't see the game so that May be true but even though he's had many more games than Ramsdale fact is he keeps clean sheets for us and Ramsdale didn't. In all those games Ramsdale had for us there will have been some he had very little to do yet couldn't kept clean sheets.

Think he was deeper than usual from

the long throws and set pieces. Could have come for a couple. But nothing major.

Had naff all to do, really.

Fair does but imo when Ramsdale had naf all to do he didn't do it.

Just checked - for Newcastle across all competitions pope has kept 43 clean sheets out of 113 games, this is a 38% clean sheet ratio.

That's a ridiculous stat tbf!

I think so and as I've said a few times I genuinely believe he was more responsible for keeping Burnley up then any other Burnley player when there, the season we bought him they go down and for us he's got more than a few nervy results over the line. He's not perfect but how many in our squad are, when he's not playing our points tally was dropping just as Burnleys did when they sold him.

This thick twat got away with another tonight. Someone needs to teach him the flight of a football

Did bail us out a few times especially that crucial save at the end which would have completely changed the narrative.

Yeah I saw that. And also saw him command his box and pull off at least three great saves. However, you concentrate on that awful loss of the flight of the ball. You can't stand him can you?

It's a goalkeepers life unfortunately - you know you've had a fantastic night when nobody notices you.  Wasn't ideal but still three wins out of three since he's come back, big Joe's come back in and milleys been starting and these players two out of these three have always been in the team that's achieved things for us and the third is quickly being one of our most important players.

I just watched the extended highlights again - he got away with murder last night.

I was just coming on to post something similar. We really need to sign a new keeper - he was all over the place.
