João Pedro - Chelsea Agree Deal With Brighton (Ornstein)

Recommended Posts

I agree that buying Chelsea players is an option.

They will go into next season with crazy squad depth no matter what though.

JP is fully an Nkunku replacement. That’s mad.

I do wonder if Maresca will continue with the full rotation in Europe and cups. They could probably do that in the group stage and get play offs in the CL.

Real Madrid wouldn’t even spend £60m for someone to sit on the bench at 23.

It’s not sensible squad building.

Agreed the bulging squad only bites you in the arse though if you can't sell them or brings a toxic atmosphere to the club stopping players wanting to sign. I can see a fair few sales this summer which just replenishes the budget to go again.

Unfortunately they are good at selling so while the place turns into a revolving door it doesn't appear to be harming them right now.

I can't fathom why a player with a short career sit on the bench and be replaced by the "next big thing " sometimes by the following summer but guaranteed good wedge for 7 years will lighten the load somewhat.

All part of the plan to convince them to buy Pedro so we can nab Madueke on the cheap, cracking use of smokescreens, stalking horses and stupid journalists.

On a serious note yeh it is a bit gutting but what can one do if those are his and his former club’s preferences? If you give me the choice I put my future development in Howe’s hands every time. Hope he enjoys his trips to the West End and 02 arena.

Or four weeks later if you are Delap!

People can mock how Chelsea do things, but they've won everything there is to win in the last 10 years, are offering more money, and have a greater geographical appeal, but any player who backs themselves and goes there over us is to be ridiculed? Seems a little silly to me!

I couldn't care less that he, Delap or whoever else wants to go to Chelsea or any other club over us, we'll just go buy someone else instead who will very likely be a huge success, just like every other major signing has been under the current management.

My issue with Chelsea's transfer policy is they're spending a crazy amount of money however, Palmer excluded, are they ending up with any world class players?

For the money they're spending, they should be planning on winning the league, but I don't see them having the first xi to do that, because they seem intent on having 4 good players for every position rather than 2 great ones.

The are spending top 2 money but buying top 6 players which fucks us because they end up competing in our market whereas really they should be buying players in the tier above.

Agree, was very odd last season when with the media making out it was some big achievement they got back in CL, as if they hadn't just spent a billion quid!

Is anyone really that bothered that this 1 didn't happen. The lad seems like a bit of a tit to be honest. Happy to go and sit on Chelsea's bench so he can spend his money in London ffs. He was probably thinking he didn't fancy Bruno and Big Joe telling him to sort out his shite every week.

Not fussed at all that he's knocked us back.

Time will tell but I don't think it's the smartest decision by Pedro.

I think he would have been a star for us but I don't think he is at the stage to be starting week in week out for Chelsea and this will hamper his improvement as a player.

Dont have issue with the players. Only a few of them really lose out massively - your Nkunku’s and even then he’s made a massive wedge.

Like whose career is fucked because of Chelsea?

but it doesn’t make sense from a squad building. 2 first teams doesn’t really work in real life.

Financially probably none of them; career achievement lots of them. Many of these wonder kids they’ve hoovered up and shoved into a never ending cycle of loans.

I'm never bothered by any player that doesn't want to come here, I don't wish him failure either. It's part of the game, especially with ridiculous entities like Chelsea knocking about and warping the market.

Name them.

If they’re good enough they either play or move on and find form.  If they aren’t, they sit and collect a wedge they can’t justify.

I would say maybe Nkunku but injuries have been a massive factor too. He was on the up in his career.

Maybe a bit simplistic, we can't really know which of these players would've good enough if they'd gone somewhere with a route into the first team.

True. But it’s not like they are signing supposed world beaters and suddenly y their careers go off track like Alexis Sanchez or Torres.

Tosin could’ve joined us.  He would’ve been in England contention - maybe. But has he really lost out?

They make a lot of money on sales. The scatter gun approach is nuts no doubt but it can work if you're able to recoup most of it on 'duds'.

Man City aren't too dissimilar.
