We probably will, but I definitely understand the scepticism towards how we operate at board level. It’s getting on for two years since we made a first team signing.

While I agree, a lot of that is PSR. It feels even now, we're trying overly hard to squeeze every penny out of deals for that very reason. Problem is, if you shop for PL proven, you're going to pay a premium.

We've not missed out on any player because we've acted slowly, as far as im aware? Any player who's gone elsewhere has been because of more obvious reasons.

As far as time goes, why does it make any difference when we sign players, until the 7th of July arrives? Even some of our better players won't even return to training on that date.

Also this idea that we negotiate slowly isnt true, Liverpool Kerkez deals took weeks, even though we knew it was happening. Wirtz had like 4 bids rejected. Man Utd still haven't agreed a fee for Mbeumo, despite him making it clear he was moving there 3 weeks ago. Chelsea have been trying to sign that Gittensn for ages. Im sure Arsenal fans will be going wild at the fact they haven't signed a striker too.

I suspect we are caught in a bubble, to which everything feels frustratingly slow and I absolutely feel it too.

If by the week the players come back to training we haven't got one through the door AND another one looking likely, I'll be incredibly frustrated like everyone else but not yet.

We've made numerous opening bids for players this week. I think the whole point of that is specifically to get a couple done before pre season.

We're less aware of how long other clubs take to do deals because we're not constantly checking forums/social media to find out what they're up to. I don’t think we actually particularly slowly in the transfer market.

Isn't that because of PSR and overspending though? As opposed to a slow process?

I kind of get the slow thing when it comes to CEOs etc, they do take their time.

Just to play devils advocate, apart from a 2 director of footballs, one was a turncoat, the other just not the right fit, they've barely got a decision wrong in my mind.

Communication is shite though, when Howe is not at the club it's like radio silence, At the bare minimum Mitchell should have sent out a business as usual message

Agree, and I’m probably completely wrong, but it seems like the club are surprised about the prices quoted. I just assumed all the main background work will have been done in the last 18 months.

My frustration is at the speed we appear to move at rather tbh. It seems biblically slow compared to others.

While I'm having a little moan I'll also bring up the poor communication between the club and fans as regards new roles and responsibilities now that Mitchell has gone (?) and Eales moving on. Who does what now? Who's responsible for what?

Aye, the CEO thing is mental tbh, we should have had one in ready for this window. They have had almost a year.

Ive seen the club get criticism for over communicating in the past too though, especially pre takeover.

I might be old school but I prefer the people at the top to keep their mouths shut as much as possible. Once a year will do me.

I like my ego massaged, Amanda was the best at it since Keegan.

Yeah i agree on the second part. I think the club are so used to Howe being the mouthpiece that they've not thought through this interim period.

Also Eales ill health cant help.

I don't need any communication whatsoever. Just get the deals done and the results tend to speak for themselves.

Spot on. We’re also seemingly (more or less) exclusively after players who have stood out at PL level and so competing wilfully against other strong PL clubs. The players in question may also hold out for better offers financially and with more successful clubs. We’re obviously doing this by choice. Hopefully we have a plan B when all/most the players we wanted have gone elsewhere or their clubs are not willing to deal on reasonable terms.

Problem is, that’s not happened for a while.

Yeah that's fair enough, what's happened to Eales is awful and something no-one could have predicted, such is life, these things happen unfortunately. I still think it's fair game to at least be informed of what's happening as far as his eventual replacement is concerned though. It's now a billion pound club and we've got no idea who's calling the shots or who is responsible for each aspect of the operation (unless I've missed it) and it's been like this for a while now. I don't expect miracles and don't need precise details but there's no excuse for the zero communication we've had for a long time now

Why? genuinely interested. If it is business as usual then why do they need to tell us that

Because it's obviously not, huge gaps in the decision making team, still no communication about stadium and training pitch, my fear is for Howe, he is overworked and now it looks like he's going to have to do more, I get the impression they hide behind him, Staveley stood by. Supported and shared his load.

Board could do well to invest more budget into the digital side of things. Website, app, content etc all lacking well behind that of rivals.

Heck, give me a job I’ll sort it out for the cost of insider knowledge.

Yeah I really want him but I will be very surprised if he doesn’t end up at Chelsea now. As mentioned, concerned that we will now panic and overpay on Elanga. Looks like we have wanted Delap, Cunha, Mbeumo and Joao Pedro, so to get none of them is gutting but can’t be helped when they sky six have so much financial power.

Who’s next?

There isn't huge gaps, the teams in place still and multiple replacements have been talked to. A manager who wanted more responsibility cant now be overworked, especially when other options could have been put in place. Bear in mind from the moment Mitchell came in and imploded things with his first speech there has always been a mouthpiece in Eddie, sometimes doing an interview we wouldnt expect like with the BBC and increasing the burden. PIF wouldnt allow embarrassment of being seen not to be the best and being out of control.

We have absolutely no right to know anything about the stadium / training ground etc. People dont demand apple release regular statements on the progress of new products etc, footballs a business, its all good

I think apart from Pedro there is better value out there where we could get a few names. I would have liked Damsgaard but I think the Norgaard moves stops that. Plenty trying to get out of SA, With out scouting network id be relaxed. Mbuemo would still even have been out of our reach even with his lower wage demands sadly. If anybody is to break the structure it should be Isak who has proven himself for us
