We keep saying Joao Pedro for CF but he’s not an out and out striker. Back up is ok but if Isak is out we may become toothless upfront again

why has buying enough players to fit your basic objectives become so damn difficult

Other way round for me. He seems more of a striker than a wide player, that's how I've always viewed him, although tbf I've not watched him that extensively. I think he would do fine as rotation for Isak.

I do wonder whether Eddie is thinking about taking a risk and bringing him in to start at RW. A risk in terms of JP not being used to that position, rather than him not being quality in general.

More of a free role from that position would work IMO.

Especially because of how well Tino gets up and down the line to provide width.

Would allow for Pedro to come inside and find spaces to pick up playing off Isak.

Bruno could then be a bit more reserved in how much he pushes forward too.

It fits with how we originally bid for Maddison too, granted that was with Trippier at RB.

It always seemed an odd bid, given his lack of physicality, but it showed we were possibly willing to play with a playmaker on the wing. Joelinton too isn't your traditional winger but Howe's played him RW.

It's going to be strange spending £60m on a player who probably doesn't start in our best XI (unless he really can be pushed to RW).

Depth, versatility and fluidity are crucial for next season, though.

I'd find a way to start him over Murphy like. Although in reality they would both play a very important role in most of the games.

Yeah, good point.

Last season Poch often played Palmer on the right wing, but he had freedom to find spaces to influence the game by coming inside, with Gusto overlapping. Was very effective.

Could see a similar setup if Pedro is played there.

The transfer window pendulum of panic and impatience has finally taken hold. Barely a week in haha.

I still think its a bit crazy price wise but this is a player we have wanted and scouted extensively for a LONG time at this point. He is acclimatized to the league too. IF the money is there its probably okay to stretch higher for a player we are convinced will be a hit.

All the noises about him wanting to come and being open to playing anywhere across the front line has also swung me into the hope this happens and slightly dissapointed if it doesn't.

Expect Chelsea to swoop in 3...2...1...
