There’s a ton of blame to be leveled at the club…it’s a searing indictment of ownership that we are still with two senior executive positions unfilled. But I’m choosing to level most of my ire at Isak, his shithead agent, and most importantly, at Liverpool. This hurts a lot, but it won’t break the club. I despise the player, his team, his lies, and the buying club. I’m upset we’ve done the deal to reward all of the above but life will go on and we’ll be better in the long term. Stuttgart aren't replacing Woltermade with someone similar or better, we didn't replace Gazza with better but did well out of the Carroll sale as Spurs and Villa did well out of the sales of Bale and Grealish. The less rich club has is preyed upon by the richer club and isn't going to replace like for like or else why would the sale have happened in the first place. They have to make it work other ways like strengthening the squad. Wolves were sniffing at someone from Belgium should they lose JSL they weren't going to get a more expensive/better player in cos they're prey to us. I’d say let these fuckers (the cartel clubs) all go play in the same fucking sandbox together and leave the rest of the clubs alone—but that’s still not going to keep them from fucking everyone else over. This is early days of PSR too. Every year henceforth they'll have more money to spend than everybody else no matter what happens. Yeah no one is replacing Isak like-for-like. Ignoring the elephant rat in the room, and taking perspective, our window has been pretty decent. Who is the best feasible incoming to stop all your doom and gloom? Muani deal is floundering with Juve and PSG insist on a loan with obligation (we have the funds) Samu currently has a muscle injury and has shown preference to staying in Portugal Ramos similarly has shown preference to PSG Strand-Larsen wants to come, has a reported 'achilles' issue that meant he missed last game Wissa really wants to come, has acted a bit of a tit but is training with squad just not selected for games Someone else? Guest
Once we’d agreed that fee for Woltemade as Isak’s replacement, the writing was in the wall. Almost like for like in terms of fees plus around 60m pure profit.. it might ease things in terms of PSR. That should cover a move for someone tomorrow. I think Howe goes for PL experience though. Has to be Wissa although that statement he made leaves a bad taste. Very poor judgment. There’s nobody else that fits the bill really. We also need someone a little older who’s been there and done it but who’s legs still work.

Way over the top. Sheffield Wed fans will have violins out because we had to sell a striking player to a cartel* club for under his value but still well over £100m. Its a sorry state of affairs without question the way its come about but its pretty standard footballing hardship at the end of the day (selling one of your better players to a richer club) and one that was inevitable given the regulations beyond the player going on strike that nobody could have foreseen. When I've been saying 'cartel' I've 100% meant it, its not hyperbole or joking, that is what it is. I mean, its undeniable after this summer. This is the sort of things cartels do Edited September 1, 2025 by Jonas

Watch it be someone more out of the blue like Sorloth. Obviously a bit old and no PL experience, but we may just have to drop that last condition at this point. Although come to think of it, this likely would be a non-starter with Howe given the profile and who just came in through the door. A lot of the lads at this club run through brick walls for Eddie and they will never pull these stunts. However it's more than just what players do, it's the first encounter we've had to handle a purple and we've handled it horrifically. Losing a world class striker to the people who have spent all summer tapping him up for less than you wanted is amateur hour.
Wolfcastle
We'd already lost him. This way we get some money but unfortunately he goes to Liverpool. But he was gone somewhere even if it was on strike.
Menace
So let him strike, chances are there would've been more clubs looking for a striker next season anyway. Ah well it's done now.
Matt
No-one knows exactly what Isak said at the meeting last week- but it was enough for us to accept he was a goner and make the move for Woltemade and also so a change in tone in Howe's comments. That was the end of the road. So do we replace Isak tomorrow? Either way there's an empty locker, because to me it seems he was happy to keep dragging this out until January or beyond. Adrian1881
According to AI input: If Alexander Isak is sold for £125 million, Newcastle United would still gain a massive PSR advantage, though slightly less than the £130–150m scenarios floated earlier. 📊 Estimated PSR Impact at £125m Sale • Original purchase price: £63m in 2022 • Book value now: ~£31.5m (due to amortization over his contract) • Sell-on clause: Real Sociedad gets 10% of the profit (~£9.35m) • Profit for PSR: • Sale price (£125m) – Book value (£31.5m) = £93.5m • Minus 10% sell-on (~£9.35m) = ~£84.15m PSR profit This figure would be booked immediately, giving Newcastle the flexibility to spend up to £420 million on new signings if they’re amortized over five-year deals (i.e., £84m × 5). 🧠 Strategic Upside Even at £125m, it’s a game-changer: • Clears the PSR bottleneck for multiple windows • Funds reinforcements across the pitch • Allows Newcastle to operate like a top-six club again It’s still bittersweet, but the logic is sound. And given your knack for spotting systemic trade-offs, Adrian, this is one of those rare cases where selling a star could actually accelerate the project rather than derail it. I know AI often makes mistakes but hopefully we can move forward...
