Yeah but as soon as you pay him you’ve raised the wage bill then the gloves are off - everyone angles for more. This is fine if this is the decided route and I’ll be all for it but as the wages creep up and eats into PSR even more people can’t complain next windows when we don’t spend. If he wants this then there’s a massive decision to be made and I’m personally just wishing we had proper people and experts in place to deal with this.

I keep saying this, but just because a world class striker commands world class wages, doesn't mean every other squad member is entitled to them.

Bruno highest earner clause notwithstanding - assuming that's even true.

I'm solidly in the PSR is bullshit camp.

Unless he's staying here for specific training, I hope he goes even if it's just for marketing reasons even if he can't play.

Or he goes just to make a statement and show he’s still invested.

No wonder they aren't in a hurry to offer him an improved contract if it is.

Would smack of incredible incompetence on our negotiating team if true. No player should ever have that much power.

Why would we give Bruno a 'highest earner clause'?

I'm not even sure what that means, that he is contractually obliged to make him the highest paid player?

I can’t find anything written about that anywhere online, admittedly didn’t look hard.

Don’t know what’s funny about that, I said if we decided to sell, I mean he’s currently injured and there’s Elliot is way better than Longstaff, it leaves us £100M to bring two strikers in. Isak would be missed sure but I personally think he’s not going to sign a new contract but I hope he gets fit, has a blinding season and I’m wrong though.

Not for me thanks. 150 mill minimum for Isak as regard to Elliot and his "hair crime" no thanks.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on him, I think he’s a great little player.

We wouldn't.

Apparently there is such a thing, just looked it up, just not convinced we’ve given him one

I don’t think Isak will sign a new contract. I also don’t think the reason is because of money.

I recon he will - club will up their offer - he's way to valuable to the team not to.

I remember a version of FM when I was Hearts, had about 6 players on this highest earner clause around £10k each. Signed Ben Arfa on £45k a week, crippled me having 6 players getting £35k a week rises at once.

That’s like me remembering my first ever rent was £18 per week for a flat in Fenham.  Moved to Heaton worrying if I could afford £120 per month.

Reasons?

I don’t think we will do enough in this window to convince him we’re ambitious enough (or have the possibility to be). The past few windows probably haven’t helped either. He’s entering his absolute prime years now and I reckon he feels ready to take the next step. I really hope I’m wrong like.

He’s leaving next summer at the latest, when he does we need a proper plan and leadership to drive the club on in the market.  At the minute I’m not confident at all in who’s actually making deals happen and how we are operating

Because we haven’t matched his ambitions the last few seasons, there’s teams now that will offer him that money, have proper cover for him so he’s not playing every single minute of the season, will be in the champions league every year pretty much guaranteed and have a very good chance of winning it and the premiership, he is that level and amazing if he stays but I also think at some point he’ll move on.

You wouldn't blame him. Couple that with the board roam shuffle's and instability, he may now doubt the project he was sold. I believe he's here for another season and we'll try and give him a new contract with a release clause. Let's see how this pans out. If he doesn't go to Asia due to a "thigh injury" the media and scousers will have a field day speculating.

Hoping to get 1 more season out of him. But yes all things added up who could blame him.
