It’s not agent gone rogue. It’s agent relentlessly pushing for him to move on, triple his wages, etc.

I really struggle to hold much ill will towards him. We fucked up by not pushing a contract extension any time in the last 12 months.

I am going to be very annoyed if we just roll over here. Selling him to a PL club should be out of the question unless the price reaches absurd levels.

His agent is acting on his clients behalf, if Idak is unhappy with the agent he can bin him.

We offered him a new contract as per Martin Hardy he refused it which he's obviously entitled to do.

If this is about money which is what your suggesting he will end up In Saudi and get to his bag. Let's see how this plays out.

It’s money, ambition, and prestige.

I’m not saying Isak is a total passenger in this but athletes get influenced by agents, family members, and hangers on all the time. In a lot of cases it leads to poor career decisions.

Let's see how it plays out, if he ends up at Liverpool it won't be a poor career move for him and the way this has transpired this appears most likely.

True, though I don’t think joining a bigger club for a much bigger wage would be a poor decision for him

No, not saying it would be in this case.

He has a chance to get far richer, play for one of the biggest clubs in the world (regardless of which one it is), win more trophies, and become more famous. It’s not exactly surprising he’s interested.

I don’t blame him for leaving but not in this way. Put it simple, he could tell the club he wants to leave back in May so the club can begin to find replacement and rearrange the transfer priorities

The club obviously didn’t know this or else they will tell Liverpool to go for Isak and we will get Ekitike

To create this crisis at such a late timing is the worst to the club. He simply fucked up all of us

Liverpool wanted both players. We bid £10m lower for Ekitike and were offering far lower wages. He was never a realistic option.

It's no wonder Liverpool fans are cheerleaders for PSR and PL corruption. We aren't allowed to pay Isak what he wants because we don't sell enough shirts in Asia.

Most simple example and perfect at that. Sickening way this game has gone. It’s not tied to ambition it’s tied to how much money you can convince a company or person to give you. Not football anymore.

Now some time has passed, I still reckon it's 50/50 whether he stays or goes.

Before today, we already knew that Liverpool want him + that he'd listen. This isn't new information. So why not throw a strop last week, pre-Ekitike? He hasn't (yet) committed to properly submitting a transfer request either, suggesting that both options are still open. Admittedly, a new contract is now a long-shot.

So reject the £130m rubbish, dig in + by September it'll all be behind us for another year. It's in his best interests to then be professional. I think next summer we'll still get £120m but this time with some preparation for it.

We hold the cards.

Too late he’s burnt his bridges

From everyone I’ve talked to today (including a current employee behind the scenes), I’m convinced this is agent driven by the way. It’s out of character for Alex to act like that.

His agent tie him up so he couldn't get on the plane yesterday? [emoji38]

If his agent was off the reservation and acting against Isak's wishes he would have stopped him long before things escalated to the point we're at now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the agent is encouraging him and in his ear but I'm sorry, this guy is working on Isaks behalf agent is another convenient scape got for everyone's ire like Mitchell is.

Well no, obviously 😁

But it does sound like his agent’s been in his ear and has been forcing the issue.

Bro stop please, the agent can't force any issue man. We as a club are so wet behind the ears man.

That is invariably true, but Isak has complete autonomy and could have stopped his agent acting this way after last week's drama if he was truly bothered by his behaviour. Instead things have escalated and become even worse this week, with Isak an active and willing participant in everything that's happening.

Why are the club bending to whatever Isak wants?!

Not sure we know that they are at this stage. If he’s not happy here I don’t think Eddie will want him here. Maybe that’ll be a deciding factor, not so much as bending to his will. Doing what’s best for all involved and protecting the group.

Err, agents absolutely can and do “force issues”. Two of the people I cite regularly on here (including the person who gave me the Elanga info) are agents and they have told me multiple times about the power an agent has over a player.

I’m not saying Alex couldn’t have resisted, or acted differently, but this has all initially been brought on because his agents have been forcing the issue behind the scenes.

I agree, Eddie will be protecting the group and trying to get through preseason and preparation of his players with minimal distractions. Plus I think the club are obviously wanting to keep Isak so playing by his rules until we see where this is going, giving him some space to try and get him grounded and hoping he sees the benefits of staying with us for now.

Your making it sound like players are in bondage to agents which is obviously absolutely rubbish.

If Isak wasn't happy with his agents behaviour he could have binned them, he hasn't.

If in paying someone to represent me, the representative is working on the basis of my instruct implied or stated.

And if Isak has instructed his agent to get him the best deal, the play by the agent would be to tell Isak to stay away and use the Liverpool interest to drive up the contract price.

Anyway, Hope man :D Guy a relentless prick. Hope Howe calls him out on this tour.

I think there's an element of truth here also, Isak was promised and deserves an improved contract and he's had one of the best teams in world football courting him, he knows his worth and we've let him down through empty promises. At the very least this is a power play to get what he deserves, he's tried playing nice and just keeping his head down and scoring goals and it's got him nowhere.

I do think he's gone the wrong way about it and I don't support what he's doing to the club but I do understand his frustrations, hopefully it's not too late to rectify this.
