Wonder if the club might regret not securing that new deal earlier in the season when his form/fitness was abit patchy. If he continues now at the rate he's going till the end of the season, his agents will be able to demand silly numbers to tie him down longer.

Crazy compared to Haaland's stats. He seems to be brilliant at shooting and in the air (as if we didn't know), and does actually fuck all else. He's in the 4th% for passes completed and 1st% (bottom) for passes attempted... in a Guardiola team.

I've sometimes wondered about Haaland that if you take him out of the most dominant team in the league if he'd be quite the same player.

Reminds me of when I was young and would sign Uwe Rosler on CM2/3 whatever year it was, because he had 20 for shooting and heading & I didn't care about anything else. That said Haaland's such a physical beast as well I'm sure he could fit into just about any team.

I mean he was pretty deadly at Dortmund, which is why there was such a clamour from all the biggest clubs to get him. So yeah I think he's be alright.

He does what Pep asks of him. He's shown in the past he can do more in the build up. But he's definitely levels below Isak in that department.

I stand by, if you put Isak in that old functioning version of Man City then he is probably getting close to Haaland numbers, whilst also linking the play better than him. Haaland however is obviously a more powerful, physical specimen and probably the better 1v1 finisher from what we've seen so far of both.

However, whether he could stay fit enough long term is still a question mark about him.

Oh yeah, for sure. I'm not suggesting he doesn't walk into basically any other team.

Just you have to wonder sometimes how much being in a better team elevates certain players.

Yeah, particularly strikers who are more reliant on the rest of the team to give them service and get them in the game. Top teams are generally gonna make more chances so helps a lot.

He’s just out of form at the moment (Haaland) as are all of his creative players; he’s still one of the best strikers in the league/europe/football. Just happens that I’d always prefer Isak to him (overall game, his vibe/swagger, etc)

Isak has so much more to his game than Haaland - Haaland normally is just so clinical

Haaland rarely injured - you really need to take this into account. And this is probably his only bad spell after joining Man City. Way too early to say Isak is better.

It’s pretty much common sense to say Isak has more to his game, mind. That’s not to say he’s as good a goal scorer - that remains to be seen - but he’s a far better footballer.

Love the ice man, but Haaland is an unbelievable centre forward.  Not convinced at all with the ‘if he wasn’t at Man City’ crack.  He’s the Usain Bolt of centre forwards - he looks far too big to be able to move like he does.  I wouldn’t swap an in-form Haaland for any centre forward in world football.  But I’m convinced that Isak is in any discussion for the world’s top five centre forwards.

I lean that way too, Isak is insanely good also. If I had a choice it would be a very hard choice and not an obvious one.

I find it interesting this myth is so wide spread. Probably lucky for Newcastle as this seems to be a fact against paying a lot of money for him.

Since 18/19 Isak has missed 57 games due to injury. Same period Haaland has missed 67. He played 132 games for Real Sociedad, missing only 5 due to injury. Easy to check the injury history on transfermarkt.

Still, Isak is considered injury prone, but Haaland isn’t?

I guess first impression matters a lot. His early injury at Newcastle has really cemented the view he is injury prone.

He has a 1 goal per game ratio for Norway. Was the top scorer in the UCL for Dortmund. He gets more space to use his pace etc, so he just scores in different ways. Obviously scoring goals is his thing, not so much the rest.

Haaland was considered to be injury prone at Dortmund. It has gotten much better in the last years at Man City. Isak wasn't considered injury prone before he went to us. Compare games lost in the last couple of seasons plus the current one, Isak will be worse off in that.

You’re 100% right about first impressions. Take Calvert-Lewin. Barely missed a game for a season and a half, yet plenty on this board are convinced he’s as injury-prone as Wilson.

Exactly, just highlighting how ridiculous it is to label players as injury prone on short time scales. They both have a pretty average record over time.

Not saying either have the absolut highest availability, but it sometimes sounds like Isak is on par with Wilson which is ridiculous. He played 30/38 pl games last season and has played 15/17 this season.

EDIT: And you suggested to compare Haaland vs Isak recently. Haaland played 31/38 last season and have, 17/17 this one. Pretty similar to Isak’s stats to be fair.

He’s still shite though, ain’t he.
