Games between two big European clubs would probably sell out - probably. It would with a better pricing structure, easily.
Nobody
11 minutes ago, TheBrownBottle said: No - the money is the only reason for it. I wouldn’t watch it if we were in it. It’s a glorified pre-season friendly - I stopped watching friendlies yonks ago I would watch our games if I had nowt else to do, same as I do with our friendlies. It's more to do with how much I enjoy watching Howe's Newcastle than anything else really. I would feel quite embarrassed about watching them mind, which I don't feel about watching a friendly, so I guess it's fair to say that it'd be ranked lower than friendlies for me. Nobody
13 minutes ago, Stifler said: It would with a better pricing structure, easily. Tbf a completely meaningless friendly between Man Utd and Leeds is pretty much a sell out in a 50k arena in Sweden in July. So aye, shove any two relatively big clubs against each other pretty much anywhere in Europe and it would probably sell quite well. That doesn't mean there's any actual interest in the tournament though, it just means people are desperate to see their team play live.
Ben
If it was Man Utd and Liverpool those stadiums would be full, I think it shows how much smaller Man City and Chelsea are.

Not one of the teams want to be there, not a single player wants to play the games, the ticket prices are irrelevant, the attendances don't matter and the fact it's being broadcast for free tells you how much 'the product' is actually worth. It's been arranged with the sole intention of pumping more Saudi cash into the sport in order to exert power and influence over future decisions FIFA will make in the next 20+ years. Anyone taking it seriously needs to take a few steps back, take off the normal glasses and fuck the whole thing off. It's a piece of jewel-encrusted shit of a tournament

I looked this up today, for Europe who get 6 places last 3 champions league winners then the top 3 ranked teams. Similar for other places, where the continental champs get in, plus some other teams due to rankings. Disco
They had to fudge it to guarantee/allow the better/bigger teams in. If it was the previous last 4 of the CL, previous last 4 of the Libertadores etc it would make a modicum more sense. Boca kicking the shit out of Benfica here to make up for the quality difference. Lovely stuff. This is proper intercontinental football.

Disco
It’s a clearly a bullshit tournament but bar making it borderline free nee cunt is going to watch an awful lot of the games regardless of where they’re held unless it’s a global brand European club or a big Latin American club from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and maybe Colombia who are well supported/have diaspora fans. Paullow
I haven't seen all the matches, most of Miami, most of Palmeiras then bits and bobs of Cheslea and PSG, but this definitely feels more like it. Feels like actual jeopardy with Bayern and the barbers in the group, so kind of a winner takes all, and the crowd is great, and a bit of a surprise current score - I saw Boca were 5/1 at Bet365 about an hour before kick off. timeEd32
The worst thing about this tournament — and there are many things wrong with it — are all the neighbors and acquaintances being completely shocked that I’m not taking my kids. Like not going to see Haaland or Mbappe in this tournament is akin to child abuse. I’m gonna pass on lining Infantino’s and Chelsea’s pockets, thanks.
