I would watch our games if I had nowt else to do, same as I do with our friendlies. It's more to do with how much I enjoy watching Howe's Newcastle than anything else really.

I would feel quite embarrassed about watching them mind, which I don't feel about watching a friendly, so I guess it's fair to say that it'd be ranked lower than friendlies for me.

Tbf a completely meaningless friendly between Man Utd and Leeds is pretty much a sell out in a 50k arena in Sweden in July. 

So aye, shove any two relatively big clubs against each other pretty much anywhere in Europe and it would probably sell quite well. That doesn't mean there's any actual interest in the tournament though, it just means people are desperate to see their team play live.

I looked this up today, for Europe who get 6 places last 3 champions league winners then the top 3 ranked teams. Similar for other places, where the continental champs get in, plus some other teams due to rankings.

They had to fudge it to guarantee/allow the better/bigger teams in. If it was the previous last 4 of the CL, previous last 4 of the Libertadores etc it would make a modicum more sense.

It’s a clearly a bullshit tournament but bar making it borderline free nee cunt is going to watch an awful lot of the games regardless of where they’re held unless it’s a global brand European club or a big Latin American club from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and maybe Colombia who are well supported/have diaspora fans.

I haven't seen all the matches, most of Miami, most of Palmeiras then bits and bobs of Cheslea and PSG, but this definitely feels more like it. Feels like actual jeopardy with Bayern and the barbers in the group, so kind of a winner takes all, and the crowd is great, and a bit of a surprise current score - I saw Boca were 5/1 at Bet365 about an hour before kick off.

The worst thing about this tournament — and there are many things wrong with it — are all the neighbors and acquaintances being completely shocked that I’m not taking my kids. Like not going to see Haaland or Mbappe in this tournament is akin to child abuse. I’m gonna pass on lining Infantino’s and Chelsea’s pockets, thanks.
