This is a completely different Man City. Some old post of yours will be dug out from months ago and you'll be accused of having a short attention span The reality is City are an absolute mess They'll lose to Liverpool in the league, absolutely no doubts about it
Dr.Spaceman Posted Tuesday at 22:24 Share Posted Tuesday at 22:24 James McAtee is back playing for them? Wasn't he incredibly average in a shite Sheff Utd side?

The College Dropout Posted Tuesday at 22:44 Share Posted Tuesday at 22:44 This City side is at the end of its cycle. Their poor recruitment and sales over the last 3 years is haunting them. Haaland and Gvardiol aside - you would struggle to think of top signings they’ve made in the last 3 seasons. Nunez, Doku, Grealish not really it. Right after our game vs them: Their next few games were telling, because they barely beat bottom placed teams. Allways thought they would probably struggle a lot without him, it's not even hindsight. Ofcourse noone expected them to be this bad. Edited Tuesday at 23:01 by Erikse

Likelylad Posted Tuesday at 23:09 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:09 Was at that City game tonight with an old colleague who’s a ST holder. I really don’t mind City but that club genuinely felt hollow tonight. That awful laser show before they come out is pure Yank shite. Insane amount of empty seats and they’re extending the stadium. Even at 3-0 they were flattering to device. It can’t all just be because of Rodri. Freaky deaky Feyenord fans were absolutely brilliant throughout. Winning every game, some of them by a margin. Beating Chelsea 0-2 away from home. A draw against Inter, but they dominated them, and Inter is currently nr. 1. After his injury they haven't had a single good game, apart from smashing Sparta Prague. Huge difference before vs after. Obviously the first few losses also leads to a loss in motivation. Their team just isn't that great without Rodri, key players are ageing. Edited Tuesday at 23:21 by Erikse
Likelylad Posted Tuesday at 23:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:23 Yeah I think that’s fair. Almost like they’ve got in their own heads once they lost a few. Their defence look so brittle without his protection.

Them being next level worse is probably a mix several smaller factors piling up on top of the existing ones, so I get your point. He didn't start any of the league games prior He's obviously a huge miss, when someone is that good it's inevitable but I just think it's coincided with other players being injured and then players being massively out of form (Foden, Haaland not being as clinical as he usually is, Bernardo Silva) and they don't have decent back ups to call upon as their transfers of late has been poor. In addition maybe hunger is a factor, going again and again is not easy This season will be a struggle for them but they'll probably look at it as a season of consolidation, just finish top 4, maybe go deep in CL/FA Cup and then rebuild in the summer

I just remember that they were much better before that Arsenal game, and they seemed like their usual self until that game. That difference obviously didn't have anything to do with Rodri then. Erikse Posted Wednesday at 10:42 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:42 (edited) Just saw that Kovacic will be out for atleast another month, so their midfield is screwed for another 4 league games + the CL game vs Juve. The team as a whole is such a machine that the defence is very well protected. Of course, once the midfield isn't working and the machine starts creaking it's a different story. I think this is true but they’ve always had a core of ‘big players’. Walker Dias Stones Gvardiol - cheapest of these was £50m signed 8 years ago. 3 of them are injury prone now. When Pep joined they had Fernandinho, Silva, KDB, Bilva, Sterling, Sane in midfield. In their pomp they had KDB, Bilva, Gundogan, Rodri, Fernandinho (ageing), Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus. Now they have Rodri (injured), ageing KDB, ageing Gundogan, ageing Kovacic, Nunes, Savinho, Grealish, Doku. What they’ve got now is a drop in quality and increase in age. They’ve messed about and bought a load of squad players. They needed Paqueta’s, Bruno’s and better. They’ve messed should’ve been in for some of those Madrid CMs.
Pilko Posted Wednesday at 11:43 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:43 Foden's been absolutely chod as well compared to his usual standards which I think has had a big impact on them.
Erikse Posted Wednesday at 11:52 Share Posted Wednesday at 11:52 (edited) Basically the amount of key players they rely on have gotten less and less. They use to have like 9 or even 10 key players. With Rodri out they have like 3 or 4, maybe? Even Kyle Walker is looking awful and has done so for a while, and Lewis doesn't seem ready to yet. Atleast not ready to play in a struggling side.
