The Fountain
20 minutes ago, SteV said: Well, yes, Conference goes to 8th. But the effect of Villa winning the cup and finishing 6th or 7th, is that there’s an additional European place in terms of league position. Although if the original question was solely related to us, it’s irrelevant, with us already having Conference in the bag. Does anyone know what happens if Villa win the FAcup and finish 6th, Chelsea win the conference and finish 7th? Will 8th place be Europa and 9th Conference? ToonAbroad
Essentially 6 points above Villa when you count the goal difference. Chelsea playing Forest is massive - would be stunned to not be Top 5 now.
WilliamPS
Late Fulham and Brighton goals mean can’t secure EL until next week earliest. Could have been tomorrow if Palace and Bournemouth both lose.

MagPar
We have a very difficult final 4 games. Gonna have to pull out some fantastic performances. Man City have a much easier run in. Chelsea have a fairly difficult run in too. Forest have a favourable run in. Villa have an equally favourable run in. Chelsea and ourselves have far and away the hardest run ins. I'm a pessimist by nature (I've had an awful life) so I fancy Europa League at best. Which I'd be happy with. I'd be fine with Conference League football too as that could be a great chance at winning a European trophy, just look at the teams Chelsea have had to contend with. Champions League is too soon considering how thin our squad is. We can save that for next season or the one after.
buzza
Chelsea have the hardest run in, but we are five points ahead of villa. If we beat Brighton away next week I think we will qualify for the champs league! Chelsea and Everton hme games are must wins. Both looked pretty crap earlier today fwiw. I agree with the sentiment, we'd be favourites for the ECL, hell, I'd make us favourites for the EL if Spurs, Man Utd & Bodo made the semis and Rangers made the 1/4s it really goes to show the dearth of quality in that tournament. One of the lesser competitions would be a great chance of going on a deep run and winning something. But if we are going the be the club we all want us to be, we need to be a perennial CL team whether we're ready or not. It'll be harder to tempt purples and retain purples by flying to Armenia on Thursdays to play FK Sovietgrad Mentalists. Besides, the new format means no more groups of death, we'll be highly likely to progress to the knockouts then we may fall on our feet and get a Celtic, Brugge, Shaktar level team and go on a bit of a run. buzza
Possibility that Chelsea, City and Forest lose their next prem league games, none of them very easy; Chelsea - Liverpool Forest - Brentford City - Wolves

alexf
Won't feel confident until we beat Chelsea, that game will be massive. If we can get something away at Brighton then it will definitely ease the tension. Can see Villa and Chelsea winning most of their remaining games so nothing has changed really, today was must win and we won it. Now have more difficult games that we need to turn up for. Defensively I feel we look abit ropey still when teams go at us, but we're making teams worry so much defensively when were at home that it's not being exposed. Isak needs to get some form back for these last 4.
Optimistic Nut
Interesting to see how Forest mentally handle doing a bit of chasing next match. Brentford is an awkward as fuck game for them.
