Also a reminder that UEFA has published punishments for exceeding their cost control ratios, which is a fine based on the % over the limit and the number of consecutive years it's been broken.

We haven't gotten the most important detail yet from the PL, which is will we know what the punishments are and are they fines or potentially points deductions.

Just a fine you say ? Not points deductions, relegation or banning from competitions ?

The problem is that they will still have the rules over sponsorships etc still in place. It means fuck all until that is dealt with.

They'll not be able to enforce them if thry are aligning with the rest of Europe, it would hinder the league.

Looks like the shackles are coming off.

Everton fuming right now...

They'll just not get the next pts deduction along with forest. Citeh and Chelsea problems go away. Massive fines for them 2, smaller ones for everton and forest.

So much goes away, and a huge door swings open for us, especially if it's just fines as punishment. Well just pay it.

I very much doubt that they are going to throw those rules away, especially when they only voted for some a week or so ago.

Surely it won't apply retrospectively?

They aren't going to self inflict bringing money in if aligning with Europe, if so, what's the point? You can pay whatever sponsorship in X & Y Country, but in England, you must abide by some shitty rule we made in a last attempt to gain control.

This is massive. I reckon they've had a long list of legal challenges put to them, and had to act. This, if they've done it correctly, sends loads of headaches away, allows the league to compete without any restrictions, and the money filter down the leagues. If all the punishment is in fines, then we're laughing. Cost us more to read the letter in time wasted than the fine itself. Let all fines go straight to the EFL pot. Mackems would be fuming. Everything is mint.

I think the only thing they'll keep in place is shared ownership. Not that we're arsed, but it looks like they are doing something.

Good for us in the short term as it’s phased so for a couple of windows we’ll be able to spend a lot more and then it’ll settle down.

Our revenue’s could well be doubled in 2/3 years depending on what other commercial deals we have lined up.

Good point

why would fair market value only be applied in the premier league when others leaders don’t have it ?

might be good news although they’ve just recently announced the new tighter FMV rules ?

This new rule will just replace the £105m cap over 3 years, which still had the sponsorship rules in place. They want to keep the glass ceiling, saying you can spend more if you earn more makes them look forward thinking, but keeping the glass ceiling of not being able to earn as much through the sponsorship fair value test will be what holds it back.

Exactly.

PL "We want the PL to be the best, most exciting league in the world"

Also PL "But you can't bring in mega sponsor deals unlike in Spain, Germany, Italy & France"

It's got to go. Saves them a massive headache trying to police it as well.

80% turnover on wages. No cap on player spends. No forensic accountancy over deals. Straight forward fines for going over.

This will satisfy all the charges against citeh, allow for teams to grow but not too fast and look like the leagues are self governing.

Is this announced or are you speculating?

They might want to, to protect the corrupt cunts, but their grip is flagging, just like the takeover, they can delay, but the end will be the same.

Don’t see it making much of a difference. But yeah, I’m no expert on the subject either tbh.

Is it going to be a case where we can spend more but the bigger clubs can just spend even more?

That's exactly what it is, just tying it in as a % of turnover per year rather than losses over a three year cycle.

Would love to think @Dokko is right but that's not how I'm reading it.

There's been no announcement on any of the details.

Got it, think you're going to be disappointed then. I'd be shocked if the calculation didn't include amortised fees for one.
