He’s a big lad now, sometimes run with it. Overall as you say composed on the ball. Helped tick things over. Didn’t make a Meaningful impact tho Ticking ball over for me is making an impact. Just silently going about moving the ball. What we need in CM as Bruno can then be the more attacking one as he’s shown he has goals in his game, then you expect your wide men to score plenty over a course of season. Jesse Pinkman Posted Sunday at 19:52 Share Posted Sunday at 19:52 (edited) Looked very sharp and composed on the ball when he came on. If big Joe is out, I’d start him against Everton Edited Sunday at 19:52 by Jesse Pinkman
Elliottman Posted Sunday at 19:57 Share Posted Sunday at 19:57 The lad doesn’t give the ball away, next year is going to be huge for him.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Sunday at 19:59 Share Posted Sunday at 19:59 Thought he was good when he came on, technically so capable and very calm as well.

I don’t think that alone is enough in the PL anymore. Especially when losing a game. You got to penetrate with the passing. If you don’t, you should be impactful off the ball. Lewis Shelly a couple times tried or pulled off really forward thinking balls. It’s easier from fullback but we need Miley to get the confidence to really impose himself on games. Now I'm not using FIFA scouts as some authority, but he obviously wasn't pulling up trees at Miley's age and even older. I think Miley will play a similar role when he fills out too. I don’t think comparing him to a Ballon D’Or winner will do him favours. Let him mature his own game. Let’s hope he gets loads of minutes next season with us or on loan. Conjo Posted Monday at 08:36 Share Posted Monday at 08:36 Although understandable why he doesn't, I wish he took more risks to showcase his ability. Reckon he has the ability to get past his press and create something out of it. He's just not comfortable doing it in fear of losing the ball. Exactly why I think a season at a promotion-chasing Championship club would be perfect if we could get a decent loan to cover him for a year. Within a few weeks down there he'd see he's a class above everyone technically and he can start to express himself a lot more. The following season he'd hopefully have the self confidence to continue that in the Premier League against better players knowing what he's capable of. HawK Posted Monday at 08:53 Share Posted Monday at 08:53 I think he's just playing within the tactical instructions from Howe, he's young and doesn't know when to take those risks like Bruno or Tonali does. This will come with time, his ball retention and first touch is top tier, his weight of pass is good. I want to see him play behind Isak.

He just doesn't do it either by instruction or lack of belief that he can do it, or a combination of both.
Sempiternal Posted Monday at 11:50 Share Posted Monday at 11:50 He will not be a DM, and yeah not the best ball carrier, great passer though. 10/AM is his position
The College Dropout Posted Monday at 11:52 Share Posted Monday at 11:52 You can’t be a 10 in this era if you can’t engineer a bit of space for yourself. He’s got a load of attributes that he needs to refine with regular game time.

I think he can play there he has quick feet, fluid player but hardly anyone plays with a ten of his ilk

buzza Posted Monday at 13:19 Share Posted Monday at 13:19 I will get shot for this, but I just don´t see him progressing that much, a stable lower table prem. league holding midfielder. Yes, he is "tidy" on the ball but most of his passing is sideways or backwards, he doesn´t seem to be able to create danger as he is not pacy and is far too conscious of not losing possession. He didn´t push forward on sunday either, he sort of "hangs back" to find holes instead of running into space in front of him. Just not my cuppa tea tbh... gbandit Posted Monday at 13:29 Share Posted Monday at 13:29 Completely disagree and think he’s going to be a special player but he needs a lot more game time

80 Posted Monday at 13:46 Share Posted Monday at 13:46 (edited) It's easy to lose sight of the fact that whatever you think his future is going to be, he's still very young. There are a lot of different factors that will go in to determining how his career turns out. Edited Monday at 13:47 by
KennyUtd Posted Monday at 13:55 Share Posted Monday at 13:55 If we can make the squad deeper then Miley out on loan in Europe somewhere would make sense. I'm convinced he's going to be a special talent.
janpawel
This should probably go in the twitter bullshit thread so apologies... But Joel Bland has said Crystal Palace are interested in Miley Certainly a good sign as Palace are great at finding English talent, but we do need to find a way to develop Miley further, either with us or a loan is my preference if we sign a midfielder imo Right now I can only see him covering for Bruno's role as they both aren't very quick, but are hard to disposess, good at passing, and can thread a good ball through Think the roles Joelinton / Tonali do are not suited to Miley's skillset

But only if we have appropriate cover in CM to allow that. Which means Willock and/or Longstaff can't be sold without replacements coming in. So that's three CMs needed if Miley also goes, which I really cannot see happening. Being in Europe next season though means we can't really allow anyone homegrown/home trained to leave really. So I think it's a no go, unless crazy money is involved and with it being Palace I doubt it is.
