  1. 1. Would you want a large singing/standing section at St James' Park?

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder and I would want to be a part of it

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder but wouldn't want to be part of it, but I would move to a seat somewhere else if the singing section was to be where I currently sit....as long as I was happy with the new seat.

    • No. The atmosphere is fine as it is.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want one in the singing section.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want a season ticket in a non-singing section. But a singing section needs to happen to let people who want to sing be together

I remember coming back from the ground after being marched by their police and was slightly gutted I missed the square in all honesty

It looked mental

I was with my little brother and he hadn't been to any European aways at that point so me and my mate gave him and his pals our tickets - they had to endure a 4 mile round trip escorted by the police to the ground whilst we watched it with a crate of lager and about 2000 other ticketless fans in teh square - after that was drinking in basement bars and it was lights out. I think we got the better deal.

On the subject of mortal fans - this has always been the case and you generally see more states at European games than Domestic away games due to the length of the session. I know its not for everyone but that pseudo Shakespeare at TF Sam Dalling was appalled at someone pissing in a pint glass - god knows what he would have made of the portal urinals at Bruges or being pelted with bottles of piss in the San Siro 20 years ago. Football as an experience for the supporter has improved immeasurably and no-one wnats to go back to the 1980s but being horrified at someone pissing in a pint glass might mean you'd be better off watching on the tele.

It's obviously just a bit of a pisstake.

Singing the Glazers one outside of the context of Old Trafford when they're not our rivals is embarrassing.

They absolutely are our rivals now, especially when we play them. The City version is superb and Man U should have it thrown at them by every team they play, as payback for the mocking their support dished out at various stadiums for 20 years. Payback time.

I'm probably (definitely) a miserable twat but I personally don't understand going to an away game unless you're actually going to the match.

I had a great time in Brugge during the day but certainly didn't have any FOMO for those that just stayed in the square. I was there to see the game

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Different strokes for different folks I agree. I actually drink less at games now because the football is actually enjoyable - if I am honest I went to games home and away under Fat Sam, Roeder, JFK, McLaren, Bruce etc. out of misplaced loyalty and valuing the times spent pre and post match with a group of lads that I didn't see much outside of attending Newcastle games.

Away games for many have always been about showing support in numbers and voice even away from the ground - taking over pubs, town centres etc - I guess (crosses fingers) that as some of these games become more commonplace people will not just go for the sake of it - unfortunately one result of increased success is that we will have a larger number of people with deeper pockets and connections to the club that will take tickets from legacy regulars - but this is pretty unavoidable.

That was always my way of thinking but after hearing stories about Dortmund, and having a ticket for Wembley in February when a lot of the lads I travelled with didn't, it appears that on both occasions the better time was had by those who didn't enter the stadiums.

This seasons ticketing fiasco has turned me into more of an armchair fan and whilst years ago that would have horrified me, I quite enjoy having a few pints beforehand, watching the match in a pub and and then meeting up with those who went to the match afterwards.

Nowadays actually being there isn't the be all and and all for me. A lot of the time it's a bit of a hassle which the experience inside doesn't really warrant. If we played in a city which I really fancied visiting I'd happily travel to it ticketless.

If we get to another cup final I'd seriously be giving it a 2nd thought about going

Which is fucking mental considering all I've ever wanted is to see us lift a cup.

The whole Wembley thing last year was so plastic. Knocked me sick. Even if we'd won I know it wouldn't have been the be all and end all

Aye the lads I met after who watched in bars around KGX had a better time that we did at Wembley.

For Euro trips and cup finals / semi’s we’re stuck in a rut.

Travel in huge numbers, get mortal for days and “takeover” a city pre-match. Game is often underwhelming and a sideshow to days on the drink.

Result rarely goes our way, atmosphere is poor and we go back home disappointed.

Reminds me of how Rangers and Celtic go on.

Hopefully as we get better on the pitch the drinking will become the sideshow to being there for the match and successful result.

And we can then go akka on the ale celebrating post-match rather than pre-match

After the league cup final, I really wished I'd travelled to London, even without a ticket. Being in Newcastle was OK, just didn't have the build up/atmosphere I was expecting. It kind of felt like a regular match day watching in a pub.

Reading about fans who've hardly been to matches getting tickets for this match and the club organising it badly, the usual faces not being there, full of daytrippers etc

How is this happening?

How is the ticket allocation handled for your games in Europe? Ours is a fucking impossibility if you haven't been at almost every match since the year dot.

Although I guess you've been playing in grounds with larger allocations.

Here's ours by comparison, this was for Legia Warsaw:

Club are taking large percentage now for corporate ticket holders. A lot ending up on numerous ticketing sites whilst some fans still struggling to even get tickets

No that's not true at all.

A maximum of 7% of the away allocation are held back for corporate clients AND players friends/families. A few years ago it used to be maximum 5%. So only a small increase.

That's not the reason for the away issues at all.

Don’t doubt you’re right, but it would surely help all involved if they were open and transparent with those numbers, then people wouldn’t be saying/believing otherwise.

They are very open about it if you just ask any of the corporate team. I was speaking to my corporate team contact at the match last night who said for the PSG game they've only been allocated 100 away end tickets.

People will always say / believe whatever they want if they perceive some kind of injustice somewhere (see the vitriol towards YouTubers etc).

The reality is that last night's atmosphere had nothing to do with who had the tickets and everything to do with British drinking culture... I'll never fucking understand why you'd spend hundreds of pounds to follow NUFC in Europe, only to be too pissed to make a noise / stand up.

Find it hard to believe unless people are selling tickets on. I seen 4 lads in away end last night who i know don't have season tickets or enough loyalty points. There was couple on our flight saying it was their 3rd away game. Don't get me wrong it's not 100% issue but it is a contributing factor.

But maybe it is ST holders selling on
