Yeh we don’t have the budget for x25 Harvey Barnes. We need some proper prospects in the squad or else we have the Murphy’s.

Yeah, I get the point, but we have to remember Murphy is a hangover from before the takeover. As are basically all the poor/average players in the squad.

When people talk about a new RW, I'm pretty sure most of us meant a signing who would instantly come in and start every game, without much risk of not working out. They didn't mean Minteh.

On the verge of a shite signing like. Not because he's a bad player, he's clearly good. But he's expensive for what is essentially a substitute.

I don't know why we're so quick to make conclusions like this, it's borderline silly. There's no way Tonali will be a sub long term or was signed as such.

You may as well say "every signing we make should come in instantly and succeed without any snags". Which just isn't going to happen.

No way a bad signing but feel like we getting to the point a midfielder needs to be peddled to stop the "how do you fit them all in conundrum" maybe secretly Bruno was meant to go and sandro takes over never going to know how that ban switched the club's prospective on how he would be utilised and the squad has now evolved passed his original purpose.

Lack of europe doesn't help with squad rotation when you have an abundance in midfield and only play 3.

Tbf describing him as a shite signing isn't quite the same as saying he's a shite player. He's clearly a quality footballer, the question mark is whether he fits into firstly, a Howe line up, and secondly, the Premier League in general.

I think he can definitely look good in the PL, but not sure whether he fits into Eddie's preferred formation. Even Eddie himself doesn't seem sure how to use him.

I don't think purples should need 2-3 years to bed in. I love Sandro, but I could easily see him back in Italy just as much as I can see him being a giant for us.

In light of our FFP position, those people need to recalibrate their expectations. I don’t see a prosperous future where we don’t sign younger players that are not proven.

Im on record as being happy to start this season with Minteh. Let the lad develop.

I don’t understand pursuing Mbeumo for megabucks. We don’t have the revenues to support it.

If he's not going to start on a regular basis this season, then yes, he's basically a flop. I'll give it a bit more time, but if he doesn't break into the team as a regular before the end of the season, then it has been a massive waste of money relative to our allowed spending power. Unfortunately that hurts 100x times more for us than what it would for any of the "big six". Maybe we would still get the fee back in that scenario (atleast close), but we are paying some hefty wages over here.

It's a fact that we spent competitively for a few windows to catch up after years and years of neglect, before the rules told us to stop it so we don't upset the applecart. But aye 'spent too much,' if you like.

We can debate the intent of the rules but they were in the place the entire time we were buying players. The club fairly deserve criticism for some of their decision making, especially given those out-sized bets (Tonali, Barnes) have not worked as of yet.
