Weezertron Posted Thursday at 16:32 Share Posted Thursday at 16:32 On the verge of a shite signing like. Not because he's a bad player, he's clearly good. But he's expensive for what is essentially a substitute.

As are basically all the poor/average players in the squad. When people talk about a new RW, I'm pretty sure most of us meant a signing who would instantly come in and start every game, without much risk of not working out. They didn't mean Minteh. There's no way Tonali will be a sub long term or was signed as such. You may as well say "every signing we make should come in instantly and succeed without any snags". Which just isn't going to happen.
nufcjmc Posted Thursday at 17:01 Share Posted Thursday at 17:01 (edited) No way a bad signing but feel like we getting to the point a midfielder needs to be peddled to stop the "how do you fit them all in conundrum" maybe secretly Bruno was meant to go and sandro takes over never going to know how that ban switched the club's prospective on how he would be utilised and the squad has now evolved passed his original purpose. Lack of europe doesn't help with squad rotation when you have an abundance in midfield and only play 3. Edited Thursday at 17:01 by nufcjmc

He's clearly a quality footballer, the question mark is whether he fits into firstly, a Howe line up, and secondly, the Premier League in general. I think he can definitely look good in the PL, but not sure whether he fits into Eddie's preferred formation. Even Eddie himself doesn't seem sure how to use him. In light of our FFP position, those people need to recalibrate their expectations. I don’t see a prosperous future where we don’t sign younger players that are not proven. Im on record as being happy to start this season with Minteh. Let the lad develop. I don’t understand pursuing Mbeumo for megabucks. We don’t have the revenues to support it. 3 minutes ago, Yorkie said: It’s a fact.

I'll give it a bit more time, but if he doesn't break into the team as a regular before the end of the season, then it has been a massive waste of money relative to our allowed spending power. Unfortunately that hurts 100x times more for us than what it would for any of the "big six". Maybe we would still get the fee back in that scenario (atleast close), but we are paying some hefty wages over here. The club fairly deserve criticism for some of their decision making, especially given those out-sized bets (Tonali, Barnes) have not worked as of yet. Yorkie Posted Thursday at 18:03 Share Posted Thursday at 18:03 I don't agree, but it's been debated a thousand times so I won't bore everyone with my take again.

TheBrownBottle Posted Friday at 19:06 Share Posted Friday at 19:06 It’s odd unless you’ve seen us play with Tonali at RCM If the lad is going to start we’d need to change the way we play. Any signs of Howe doing that so far? My suspicion at this point is either Howe or Tonali is not here next season.

duo Posted Friday at 19:14 Share Posted Friday at 19:14 Got to question why they bought Tonali if they didn't have a position in mind in the current 11 - the only thing I can think of is he was bought as a Bruno replacement.
